Any Ventures fans out there?
Sure, they were the Muzak of surf music--they covered virtually any song that had been a hit--but in their own way they were awesome. And those Mosrite guitars rule!

2. Let's Go
Were The Cars paying homage to the Ventures with their hand-clapping song, "Let's Go"?

3. Not sure
by the time Let's Go came out, the hand-clapping thing was kind of a cliche, so it might have been campy, and I have no idea whether the Ventures originated/popularized the hand-clapping thing (for all I know, they might have). What I do know, is that Elliott Easton is an unsung guitar hero. Too bad he signed on with that sham Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

7. "Let's Go" was not a Ventures original

It was a Top 20 hit in 1962 for the one-hit wonder group The Routers. The Ventures didn't wax "Let's Go" until 1964.

6. They were NOT the "Muzak of Surf Music"!

The Ventures kicked ass in the '60s and, according to friends who've seen them in recent years, they still do.

To my rather discriminating ears, "Walk--Don't Run" (both the 1960 and '64 versions), "Perfidia," "Ram-Bunk-Shush," "Lullaby of the Leaves," "The Savage," "Slaughter on 10th Avenue," "Journey To The Stars," and "Hawaii 5-0" were some of the finest rock 'n' roll instrumentals ever waxed.

The Ventures rule, baby!!!

9. The Ventures were great
Haven't seen them in some time, but still love to put on some vinyl - Listened to Walk, Don't Run recently. I love surf music - hell, I love any heavy guitar instrumental.

I could go for some out-of-limits penetration right now, especially if the chick in the car is involved.
