"Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street ..."
Went to see Joe Jackson last night in Portland, OR. I have always been a JJ fan and last night did not disappoint. The venue was a small ballroom, probably less than 800 in attendance with a majority of the space stand-up room in front of the stage. You could literally be 10 feet from him performing. He did a number of songs from his new album, and blasted in to the oldies. Nothing from Beat Crazy or Jumpin' Jive ... most of it from Look Sharp and Night & Day.

All in all, a fantastic concert from an unbelievable, ageless performer.

Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street
From my window I'm staring while my coffee grows cold
Look over there! (Where?)
There's a lady that I used to know
She's married now, or engaged, or something, so I am told

Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
'Cause if my eyes don't deceive me,
There's something going wrong around here

Tonight's the night when I go to all the parties down my street
I wash my hair and I kid myself I look real smooth
Look over there! (Where?)
Here comes Jeanie with her new boyfriend
They say that looks don't count for much
If so, there goes your proof

Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
'Cause if my eyes don't deceive me,
There's something going wrong around here

But if looks could kill
There's a man there who's marked down as dead
Cause I've had my fill
Listen you, take your hands off her head
I get so mean around this scene

Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
'Cause if my eyes don't deceive me
There's something going wrong around here

Around here..
Something going wrong around here
Something going wrong around here
Something going wrong

1. Ahhhh
I hate Sugar Ray's version of that song that's out on the radio right now- I didn't know it was a cover. Yuck.

5. There's something really wrong with Sugar Ray covering that song
I don't like the band one bit, but I have to admit that the singer is a pretty good-looking guy. Your typical hollywood boy toy. For him to sing a song that wonders about how all the girls end up with ugly guys while he is all alone is just ... er... well, there's a disconnection there. It's not right. I'm appalled.

I'm glad I don't listen to mainstream radio. :puke:

2. wow; only 800?
I remember back in the day.....

At any rate, it was a great opportunity for you to check him out in a semi-intimate setting. I read somewhere that this was the last Joe Jackson Band tour?

S'funny, he was initially written off by many as a poor man's Elvis Costello, which was unfair to begin with an d he really came into his own.

4. Actually I heard on the radio recently
that JJ has decided to do some new material.

I just got a copy of Night and Day II from the library and I think it's awesome. I have a whole new appreciation for him now.
