Neil Young's song "On the Beach" is like audio heroin
(I'm guessing...)

I'm not kidding. I literally have to shake my head to snap out of it after I hear it. Skip it when driving. Just head it again at desk. It creeps over you like a fog. Stones you.

Now there's mood altering songs, to be sure. But despite my love of psychedelic music, OTB, I tell ya, is mind-altering for me.

Got any songs that do a mind-altering, er, number on yr brain?

5. Hey folks
Love all them tunes. Yes indeed. Southen Man--esp 4 Way Street--can get me air guitarin', Bandit can make me weepy, and Dark Star is a deep space exursion.

But I can listen to those as I drive. I was comnpletely serious about OTB's effects. It's like it lowers my metabolism, even if I'm not listening closely. Makes me feel like I just woke up when it's over.

And, hey, damned if we don't like us some good music, huh?

6. I get a similar effect from Tangerine Dream's Rubycon
Parts I and II.

Also some of the electronica in Young's Trans album (which is extremely underrated!), like the droning bridge in We R in Control - I once tripped to that album and it pretty much blew my mind for all time to come.

7. Wow!
Similar tastes in our divergence. I like TD too. Gotta confess I don't have Trans on CD, but did have it on vinyl and I got the Berlin/Trans Tour DVD. My wife cringes when I but it on, but I love it, for the most part.

8. In that case, you may enjoy

Also Hallucinogen - In Dub, by Ott, particularly Buckminster Fullerine and Warwick Bassmonkey:

It's fun to annoy the wife now and then. They do it to us, too.
