I'd Love To Change the World
I'd Love To Change the World
written by Alvin Lee
performed by Ten Years After
from A Space in Time

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies
tell me where is sanity

Tax the rich, feed the poor
'til there are no rich no more

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy

Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money
no mo fo me

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Oh yeah !

World pollution, there's no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

1. RW song
has rw ideas.. first two lines, and the one .. breeding.. econ feeding.

How did it come to be a LW song?

Sure the pure music is Rock, but the words are RW plus "i give up trying".

2. I disagree
>has rw ideas.. first two lines, and the one .. breeding.. econ feeding.<

Here is the first verse of the song. I might add that it is from 1971, long before the advent of political correctness.

>Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies
tell me where is sanity

Tax the rich, feed the poor
'til there are no rich no more<

"Tax the rich, feed the poor"? That's not right wing.

>Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy<

The songwriter's talking about overpopulation. I think the word "economy" means something else than "right wing" to the songwriter as well.

>World pollution, there's no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war<

Again, there's nothing right wing in the above sentiments.

>I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you<

I think this is nothing more than frustration with the way things were in 1971 and hope that others can right the wrong. It also boasts some (IMHO) blistering guitar work.

I'm glad that Michael Moore used this song; we'd all love to change the world, and most of us "don't know what to do".
