Poll question: Ultimate 80's ballad
You know you loved these songs, and if you got to SLOW dance with a girl or guy during one of these songs you were officially an "item"....

33. Ditto, though I like both equally
Actually "babe" came out in 1979, October to be precise and was Number 1!

6. Little hard core here

Just kiddin'....grew up on all that stuff.

The very best ballad by a hardcore metal band was probably "Room With a View" by Death Angel.

14. To my knowledge it wasn't
But I don't know for sure. It almsot had a Reggae type of a sound to it.

Here are the lyrics I found on google although the "but you in the food when I look at your face" sounds like a mistake (LOL):

Cause in nothing there's something I feel
And my heart takes it straight
Or it'll break down again
In your lips I sense a danger
You've got the eyes of a stranger
Have I been sleeping for all these years?
Is it magic that makes you appear?
When you walked in the room I felt my heart race
But you in the food when I look at your face
In your lips I sense a danger
You've got the eyes of a stranger
In your lips I see a danger
You've got the eyes of a stranger
Solo
Chorus
You've got the eyes of a stranger (repeatedly)

15. I love that song.
Actually had a copy of "No Stranger to Danger" in the 80s.

It's fortunate that I'm married to a Canadian so visit in-laws every year or so. We always stock up on hard-to-find stuff while we're up. Last time we bought a Payolas greatest hits.

:-)

16. I did too!
What was the song with lyrics in it about the "bowler hat" it was good whatever it was...I had the "tape" at the time and loved it.
Unfortunately all that stuff is gone now from my collection.

11. Crazy for You...Madonna.
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 10:55 PM by liberal_veteran

Swaying room as the music starts
Strangers making the most of the dark
Two by two their bodies become one

I see you through the smokey air
Can't you feel the weight of my stare
You're so close but still a world away
What I'm dying to say, is that

I'm crazy for you
Touch me once and you'll know it's true
I never wanted anyone like this
It's all brand new, you'll feel it in my kiss
I'm crazy for you, crazy for you

Trying hard to control my heart
I walk over to where you are
Eye to eye we meet, no word at all

Slowly now we begin to move
Every breath I'm deeper into you
Soon we two are standing still in time
If you read my mind, you'll see

I'm crazy for you
Touch me once and you'll know it's true
I never wanted anyone like this
It's all brand new, you'll feel it in my kiss
I'm crazy for you, crazy for you

It's all brand new, I'm crazy for you
And you know it's true
I'm crazy, crazy for you

17. Yes INXS was also a big 80's deal
Ship of fools was one of my faves (was that the title?)

I saw INXS at a really small bar in like 1992 in Detroit (it was a promotional thing and there were only about 300 people there)
I wasn't a huge INXS fan prior to seeing them but it was an astounding live performance.

They rated right up there with the so called greats IMO in terms of live performance.

29. BRUUUUCE: "I'm on Fire"
"The City" which is really called "Lights" off of "Infinity", and "Babe", from "Cornerstone" were 70s songs. 1978 for Journey, and '79 for Styx.

Some 80's ballads...
"I want to Know What Love Is"-Foreigner.
"Hey Little Girl"-Icehouse
"Drive"-The Cars
"Save A Prayer"-Duran Duran
"Purple Rain"-Prince and the Revolution
"A Girl in Trouble (is a temporary thing)"- Romeo Void

There was a girl group that remade Rose Royce's "Wishing on a Star" which was good, but that might have been a 90's song.
