Who thinks DU should ban threads that talk about cats?

Many of us don't like cats.

They make me sneeze.

They stink up the whole house.

They give me the creeps.

Sometimes I'll be reading a post that's kind of cool and I'll scroll down to the bottom and there with no warning at all are a bunch of shapshots of cats!! Accckk! I can't stand it.

I think they should be banned or otherwise freepers will think we're all a bunch of stupid cat lovers.

They don't stink anywhere near as much as dogs, BTW. (I like dogs, too. I just like cats more.) Some people prefer cats, some dogs. What's the big deal?

Plus, that litter box thing has to be one of the two or three worst smells on earth. As soon as someone opens their damned door, you can tell if a cat has lived there anytime in the last thirty years.

It makes me feel good about DU'ers when I see the cat posts. I know then that they aren't crazy right-wing fascists.

The charming company my kitty brings me is worth the sneezing. Fortunately, mine does his business outdoors. (I live in the country so there is space. Also, the dogs and the wild animals do their share of outdoor potty fertilizing.)

How could a Piece Of Shit like Jr love anything outside of himself. Hell, you don't even see him with his own Daughters. Jr also laughed at his Daughter when her dress strap broke and it fell down when he was dancing with her and any other Dad would have made sure that she was covered either with his jacket of putting her up against him until the got off of stage. A man like that can't love he is loveless.

He made some speech that alluded to the bad guys being cats metaphorically. Cat and mouse sort of thing. I don't think it means he hates cats. I have often called certain men pigs. It doesn't mean I hate pigs. As a matter of fact I like them. They are kind of smart like dogs and have loads of personality.

I've been keeping my Mom's sweet, fat hairy cat alive since she died almost 7 months ago.

Besides, the cat really PO's my Freeper brother whose stupid Golden Lab Retriever can do no wrong.

I'll take a clean cat over an idiot alcoholic dog any day.

Cats eat less and are easier to take care of, and I like their music better, but they're lousy tax deductions.

we aren't stupid, in fact, quite the contrary. Cats have style, grace, beauty and, let's face it , we envy them. - switching one's tail when pissed off would be MOST satisfying. Some of the folks on DU would never STOP switching their tails.

I just wish it were possible to connect a camera to my Notebook and install translation software to interpert the tail swishes.

Regarding your respective points:

I suggest you ignore the cat threads. As long as the cat threads don't disrupt the forum and make DUers look stupid, what's the harm?

2. They make me sneeze
It doesn't matter that they make YOU sneeze. The important thing is this forum and the democratic cause.

3. They stink up the whole house.
Your house is irrelevant to the forum and the democratic cause. Might I suggest you get rid of your cats or look for an alternate source of the stink?

4. They give me the creeps.
See #2 - replace <sneeze> with <creeps>.

As long as the general public (read: swing voters) wouldn't think we're stupid, it's OK. Most people have no problem with the love of cats. We wouldn't be thought of loving our cats to a bizarre, wacko, and inexplicable level if a few cat threads were kicking around.

My suggestion is if too many cat threads show up in "general discussion" - a place intended for "discussion of miscellaneous political topics." - then perhaps we need a place designated for cat threads. We could call it "the litter box".

If there is a cat thread place, then we just need to alert the mods so they may swiftly remove any cat threads to the said place, lest they disrupt and interfere with discussions about things of real political interest to people, and cause casual forum visitors
(read: swing voters) to overlook such discussions of real political interest.

Pets broaden lives. They make lives more livable. I'm a dog person myself, but I've owned cats in the past, and I especially like siamese cats.
Now, a dog is nature's best product, without question. My two dogs have passed on, but I still miss them. I loved those dogs more than most humans, and they were better company than all humans.

The only good cat is a dead cat!

and one big two-legged male and I live in a city condo. My significant other is dirtier and harder to clean up after.

I've yet to meet a cat owner in any of these stinky cat houses who will admit that their cats stink.

BTW I am also very anal when it comes to cleanliness so this may have something to do with it.

We had a party the other night and a neighbor who is really allergic to cats did not realize that I had a cat until she saw Sophie walk by near the end of the evening.

My house is clean and I keep her litter box out in the enclosed patio.

my house smells like garlic most of the time, not kitties! I tried different brands of cat litter and found one that works. I vacuum everyday also.

Also, I think if you feed your cats good food, it reduces the dander and those folks that are allergic tend to have lesser reactions. One of my sisters is allergic, and my cats have never bothered her.

Garlic is a very good thing though!

I feed her Wellness brand that you can only get at specialty pet food stores- it has human grade chicken, spirulina, cranberries, blueberries, zucchini, squash.

I have a love-hate thing with cats. I love them because...well, because they're here and they're fellow mammals. I hate anybody who needs me to get up and feed them, let them in, let them out, water them, let them in, let them out...

Same with dogs, only bigger and ruder.

I like cat threads. I like cat lovers. It's they, not the cats, who drool, and we all need to drool once in a while. :)

I use to be a Dog lover only until I took in a stray Cat 20 years ago and now I have Cats and no Dogs. Of course I miss my Dogs but they all died of old age and I want another Dog real bad but Cat's have a personality like no other (Kid) has.
Either they hate you or they like you and they are honest and I love them for that.

I'd undoubtedly have a cat, but I'll never not have a dog.

Talk about honest.

I can't have one in the building that I live in and most of the buildings in Chicago will allow a Cat but not a Dog.

I miss having a dog.
