It's in the top 5 here now and what is the title of the fantastic music with that Sax that plays over the last few lines ?

Gaff had been there and let her live

four years he figured

he was wrong

Tyrell had told me Rachael was special

No termination date

I didn’t know how long we’d have together

Who does ?

Wow that music is great !!

1. What is the "real" ending to Blade Runner?
the train scene or the hallway outside her apartment?

Supposedly test audiences demanded a happy ending. Is this true?

2. There is a quite detailed description of all the versions
at this link

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083658/alternateversions

The orginal seen in the theatres in 1982 seems like the " real" blade runner
but that is opinion, the elevator scene was followed by the sax starting to wail as a wide long shot of a horizon filled with clouds and mist gave way to a sunset over a valley with mountains in the background and Rick driving along in the convertible. As the camera comes in close on Rick the voice over from the first post begins.

4. Blade Runner is ART
Art, commercially produced, unlike the typical blockbuster these days...
I am always moved by Roy Batty's passing, where he talks about his life, and all of it will come to nothing in the end, just like everyone's.

10. " .... disappear like teardrops in the rain ... " very moving
the voice over explaination of why Rick thinks Batty saved him makes all the more impact.

6. I liked the original better than the 'Director's Cut'
Seems like the voiceover added something to it. Made it almost film noirish. Without it, it seems like it's missing something. Call me weird, but I liked the original.

FYI: The ending of the original was added at the last minute. The driving footage was borrowed from Stanley Kubrick's cutting room floor. The footage is from "The Shining".

7. According to an album of music composed for the movie
performed by The New American Orchestra, the music you reference is called "Blade Runner Blues," arranged and orchestrated by Eddie Karam with Chuck Findley on the flugelhorn. I love the music, too...that's why I bought the album, many years ago. It's fantastic, if you can find it.

9. "It's too bad she won't live. But then again, who does?"
I think the Director's Cut takes away from the overall excellence of the film. The Ford dialogue, the old-school detective movie rap, added to the futuristic noir vibe.

Philip K. Dick is God.
