Well my graphics card is crapping out on me.
So got to replace it. I think I will go with a 3-D 128 MB card this time. Since I have gotten into the Higher end First Person Shooters. Plus my wife is learning to do 3-D graphics now.

6. Nvidia's got solid drivers for XP
ATi is good with hardware but relies on the drivers, windows-centric as they are, to give full performance. That or they just write half-assed Linux drivers. And if you ask me, if they do it half-assed, they shouldn't do it at all. Besides, my own history with ATi under Windows wasn't great either - which was why I ditched 'em 18 months ago.

3. If you can hold off for a few weeks to a month...
prices on the NVIDIA GeForce 5xxx and ATI 9xxx series cards should drop quite a bit, since the new Radeon X800 and GeForce 6800 cards are coming out.

It turned out to be a clogged registry. Get RegSeeker(free) and see how much crap you have in there. Use the backup feature and start deleting until the speed comes back up.
