Satellite buffs, can I sell my RCA directv receiver and dish?

I just had a new one installed. Was wondering if I could sell the old setup, which works just fine. Would I need to remove my card from it?

Thanks for any advice. (How much can I ask for it? My mom is having a garage sale tomorrow, so I could put it in the garage sale tomorrow--better than collecting dust in storage, eh?)

There were a lot of bids. I assume the cards are transferrable.

2. I just don't want someone to take my card and then use it to watch

a million pay per view movies, and that show up on my bill. Did you call to cancel your card before you sold it?

3. Call and have it deactivated.

You don't have to close your account when you replace a unit. Just call and have them deactivate the card.

Then, when you sell it, the new owner will need to activate it.

5. The Old Cards Can Be Hacked

and reprogrammed to authorize ALL channels, including PPV and porn. The bidders were interested in the card - not the equipment.
