What CD/Record should be made into a film?
Edited on Fri Jun-18-04 11:42 PM by khephra
That hasn't been made yet?

I'll give you my picks later, and yes, there's MM in there. But I want to think of some others before I post my pick.

(Oh, and it doesn't have to be a "Rock Opera", just a work you think you could make a movie out of.)

1. A few picks off the top of my head.
Sick Lipstick -- Sting Sting Sting
I think there's no way it could be anything but awesome.

Belle and Sebastian -- Tigermilk

I got nothing.

3. "Hole" by Scraping Foetus Off the Wheel
Best concept album ever...

Side 1 is one man's descent into sin and death, and side two is his arrival in hell.

Second choice:

"Radio Inferno" by FM Einheit and Andreas Ammer. It's Dante's Inferno set to music by one of Einsturzende Neubauten's members, and features John Peel as a guest vocalist!

4. Blows against the empire
Paul Kantner's 1970 album. They were talking about making a movie of it once. They should.

6. "I Think We're All Bozos On This Bus" by Firesign Theatre.
You didn't say specifically music, did you? It was a great (if surrealistic) trip to a Disney-like park where a Reagan-like robot president answered cliches to people's questions.

I saw Firesign perform this in concert when I was back in college, during Nixon's Watergate stuff. When the robot broke down, the saboteur (Clem, for fans of the album) simply commented, "He broke down because he refused to release his tapes."

14. David Bowie - "Outside"
Extremely dark, rather creepy concept album about a young girl who is killed by a deranged artist, and whose death and mutilation are intended as a work of art.

15. Neil Young's Trans
Forget Mr. Roboto. Neil Young owned this story long before that sissified shit came along. Any fan of Kraftwek should be familiar with the album by now. Computer Cowboy, Computer Age, Transformer Man, We R in Control...especially We R in Control. Great story. No flick could do the vision justice.

A movie version of Eclipse: A Journey of Permanence & Impermanence would be amazing as well. I'm thinking time-lapse photography and lots of aboriginal motifs intercut with - what else? - an eclipse in Australia and raves in Sydney.

17. Baduism
by Erykah Badu. This was her debut CD and it dealt with relationships. The real ups and downs that we go through from a realistic perspective that I have never on disk that affects us right now.
Her Live CD was the bomb too. Who can forget Tyrone!
