Got my F9/11 ticket online for the 25th,

and I'm in the first hundred people to reserve Big Dog's new book at the library. I'm also 10th on the waiting list for Amy Goodman's, "The Exception to the Rulers." The ticket was $8.50 including the fee (no senior discount, apparently), and reserve books cost a buck apiece at my library. That leaves me with $28.00 spending cash to get through the rest of the month, and Kerry wants another donation before June 30th. I guess I'd better hope my credit card isn't maxed out yet.

One of the best things about having been broke and homeless for much of my life, is now that I'm in senior housing, just being broke doesn't seem like much of a problem.

1. Better hope the Repugs don't win
There won't be any senior housing if they have their way.

3. Mine might not, but some senior housing might remain--

some of it is another excuse to give government money to private landlords. If it is merely housing for the poor, the pukes will try to eliminate it, but if it is a boondoggle to further enrich the wealthy, it is untouchable by the right.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a Democratic President and a Democratic Congress, and get some more low income housing going to get some of the elderly (including veterans) off the streets? When the social workers at my senior center finally managed to find housing for one elderly gentleman last year, everybody in the place was smiling and patting each other on the back for a week. He's a really sweet guy, and if he hadn't gotten housing he probably wouldn't still be alive.

2. Fortunately for you it's the 19th...
I've been broke (and at no fixed address) a lot, and I know how far you can stretch a very little money if you have to. It could be worse -- you could have $28 left for the month and it could be the 3rd... :)

4. You're right.

And since I only have eleven days to go and I've got food in the house and a few bucks left on the credit card for emergencies, I think I'll let Kerry have the $20.00 and get by on the $8.00. It means I'll have to smuggle a candy bar into F9/11, but that's what I usually do anyway.

5. sweetie, most of us aren't far behind you. I depend on credit
alot...my whole life lays mortgaged out before me and I am sure I will never live in this house debt free. Actually I have alot of dreams lately of living in South America on my fixed income when I hit social security. The bucks will stretch alot further there. Just hope I make it with these horrid conditions we are subjected to ..bad air, water, food, not to mention the possible global disasters or local ones inspired by the hate for this country. On my work days I am on the path train from NJ to the World Trade Ctr disembowlment for my grim reminder coffee. And Iraq in the papers. I crave chocolate for a sweet escape myself. God love ya!
