3. of course it's wrong!
It's weird how they try to start modifying kids to the media ideals these days.

4. Body building kids
Edited on Sun Jun-20-04 02:07 PM by supernova
who knew?

As long as he's doing it safely (not lifting weights that are too heavy for a kid). And not using steriods to get that six pack.

Another example of oversexualizing kids. me thinks.

12. That level of muscle development pre-puberty worries me...
Edited on Sun Jun-20-04 03:38 PM by hlthe2b
I find it hard to believe it is occuring without steroid or steroid analog use (via OTC nutritional supplments that many parents and members of the general public don't realize have androgenic effects)

7. Apart from the deeper concerns, I'd think that this is just --
physiologically -- Not A Good Idea. His body's still got a lot of growing to do and I'd suspect that the stresses of developing such muscularity wouldn't be good for his skeleton and other bits. Besides, isn't significant muscle development in men naturally at a later age because of hormone levels? If nothing else, I'd be worried about the effects of packing all that meat on bones that yet lack sufficient density; seems to me that it'd interfere with natural bone growth and development.

I'd no sooner allow or encourage my son to bulk up like this at that age, even without the physical risks that I'm wondering about, than I'd allow my young daughter to pull a JonBenet. Not for the bodybuilding thing, anyway -- using light weights for strength or endurance is another story all together. It's just disgusting to me, and there are plenty of activities that I could encourage that'd max out the kid's strength potential and other physical qualities.

8. Yuck!
If your kid wants to get into bodybuilding and you provide resources for him to do it properly and let him have his hobby, that's one thing - but building a website and inviting publicity so people can ogle him and cashing in on it? That's perverse.

11. I hope he's not going to be one of those kids who
totally burns out before he's even an adult. (Not just physically, but also intellectually and emotionally.) That is so sad.

BTW, CatWoman, I've been meaning to tell you that I absolutely love the kitty animation in your sig--it's so cute! :-)

10. the splash graphic is impressive
the rest of the website is cheaply made. But that's not what's being discussed.

Only twelve years old and he looks like that, I hope to God his parents aren't giving him anabolic steroids. Some of the pictures on the other links posted here amused me, because it looked like he was wearing a mullet in the late nineties/early 2000s.
