Greg Lake of ELP.
He was getting chubby around the middle during this time, and Jon Anderson was commenting upon his girth, and the crumbs falling from his mouth.

85. I met Jon Anderson
a long time ago and had a chance to really talk with the guy. I asked him about some of the old Yes lyrics. He said most of them meant absolutely nothing......they just looked for lines that sounded good.

8. In Phil's defense.....
I know he's the epitome of crap, but he really does have a great voice. He had sung "More Fool Me" on "Selling England by the Pound" already, and harmony with Gabriel (good blend), so when the time came to audition singers, they went through the ususal retinue of hopefuls for a couple weeks before settling on Phil. He wasn't first choice, in other words.

When I read about it I was amused at how Phil would always interrupt auditioners with "No, no! Peter sang that song like THIS, look... la la laaaa..."

rock tune of super-Christian Republican Illinois Senate Candidate Jack Ryan that he hummed to himself when he tried to force his wife into public sex shows in New York and Paris?

And when he tried to convince her to put up with bondage, torture and butt plugs along with group sex, which famous Rock and Roll hit was in his mind?

(Sorry, can't resist another dig at that scum)

81. No, not particularly
He is a good singer though.

There is a very large cubculture in Japan currently called Gothic Lolitas. Very odd bunch. They cram cute and goth together. They hang out in parks and public places and kind of saunter around not paying any attention to others and trying to get noticed. Very odd bunch indeed.

A lot of Japanese bands are influenced by this craze (or started it) and their own gender identity is not exactly a key issue for performing artists. The idea is to portray some archetype. And they tend to really throw themself into it. The stage presentation and spectecle of it all is quite amazing. Of course we have our little socially learned issues with gender identity and most people from the west get hung up on that.

93. It was Alan Holdsworth
I read an interview with him, when he did his I.O.U. album in the early eighties. He said he took out a mortage on his house to pay for it. Eddie had always said Alan was his favorite guitarist, and offered to foot the bill for it if he could play on it. Holdsworth told him no.

Keith does indeed wrestle with a Hammond (but which one?) as part of his act. One time he got a little too enthusiastic and the thing burst into flames. I'll post a pic once somebody figures out what model.
