For those who saw F9/11: Anyone interesting hanging outside your theater?
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 09:10 PM by LynneSin
We had the Human Rights Campaign folks working outside the Philadelphia Ritz East. They had forms for folks to register to vote and handing out stuff about why Bush is a bad person (like we didn't know). They also handed out stickers to anyone who wanted one (I took one, I didn't have any anti-bush stuff on me)

I saw 2 DU tee-shirts with "Worst President Ever", but they weren't members of DU but with a DU member - Tom_Paine ( :hi: )

So what excitement was at your theater when you saw the movie?

1. Absolutely no protesters.

There was a representative of moveon.org there handing out house party fliers. We engaged in conversation for awhile. He said he wasn't affiliated with any party but would vote for Kerry this year.

There was alot of excitement during the movie. Lots of cheering and applause during the film. It was great. It really was.

3. We had dems dresses as "Billionaires for Bush" wearing tuxs
and carrying champagne bottles. Lots of funny signs. It was very good and well attended. People were honking as they drove by

Free Speech TV/Democracy Now shows great clips of their live demonstrations too.

Gotta see their photo gallery:

4. Fliers were being passed out...
...by nashville peace and justice organization. I didn't see them doing it but another patron told me he saw it and speculated it might be wingers. When I saw a different patrons flier I recognized the name and told him who they were.

I was disappointed. I wanted to walk up to a group of protesters as I got to the theatre and ask them if I could hold a sign too. If they gave me one I would have just thanked them and walked into the theatre with it. I would have brought it back to them afterwards so as not to allow them to charge me with theft. But alas, no protesters.

7. Very few reports...
Of protests or trouble. Sounds like someone's movement has run out of gas, don't it?

They just sit in front of their dreary little computers, farting lustily and typing messages that are designed to make themselves sound like Heroic Avengers of Truth, Justice and The American Way.

Yup. Real Wagnerian figures, them folks.

9. How about Michael freaking Moore! :)
Today me and my friends went to go see F9/11 after catching some of the Pride Parade here in NY (we used to march with a group of fellow GLBT Xena fans called the Marching Xenas:)). We Fandango'd some tickets earlier today and after we walked to the theater to pick them up, we had to stand in line outside anyway for seating. So, we're standing in line chatting, when we look up ahead and see a bunch of tv cameras...Ch. 2 (CBS affiliate) and a few others...then somebody says "Oh my god it's Michael Moore!" And sure enough, MM himself was walking down the line shaking everyone's hand. I squealed and jumped up and down like a 13 year old girl meeting Orlando Bloom or something. :) When he shook my hand I thanked him and said he was my hero, and he thanked me back and said "you guys are the heroes." I was floored! I wish I had my camera. It was so cool! :)

I also talked to some local news people afterwards, so if anyone in NY/NJ happens to see a black girl in a Zelda t-shirt and an HRC sticker on her bag on Channel 2 tonight, it's me. :)

10. William Jefferson Clinton...that interesting enough?
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 09:21 PM by KeepItReal
Little did I know he was gonna be there at AMC Century City for a book signing that day. :-)

Unfortunately I didn't get to see him on Friday. But I did way back when he was running the show and visited my alma mater... The University of New Orleans!! (Funny how they *didn't* have to shut down half of New Orleans when the good President paid a visit to our rec center)
