Woohoo! I hit 1,000!
And it only took me, oh... 22 months!

While I may not be any sort of avid poster on here, I just wanted to post to tell all you DUers how much I enjoy the contributions you make to this board. I find it a great resource for news and debate, and just plain addictive at times. I lurk quite a bit w/o posting to tell the truth.

BTW, does anyone besides me feel more optimistic about Democratic victory in 2004 than they've felt since pre-9/11? I hope I'm not the only one.

Anyway, this was just my pointless DU appreciation thread I guess. Everyone keep up the fight!

:kick:

1. I am pleased as punch that you hit 1000
I am not sure about optimism...I move through spaces depending on what turd the tennis ball machine pops at me daily but I know I WILL DO THE WORK...it's just here in California, we have a lot more work now AND an election next year.....no breathers...that's asking too much.

Congrats :toast:

4. Thank you, nothingshocksmeanymore
I'd have to say I'm generally not overly optimistic myself, and this is possibly just a short period of optimism on my part. But if the Texas Democratic Reps and Senators can fight Tom Delay I believe the California people can fight the installation of "Ah-nuld" as Governor as well! Just keep up the good work. :-)

2. Congrats..Twenty-two months to reach a thousand posts is ...
not the important thing. Not everyone has bionic fingers...

I'll wager you've read over 100,000 thousand posts...

Sometimes when someone says what you want to say, or beats you to the punch, it's not necessary to add to the chorus...

Also, quality over quantity, yada yada...

I'm always optimistic, however about 2004 I'm not so sure. I think that this crowd won't release their grip on power so easily. I think their motto is, "From my dead cold hands..."

The question is: if they steal it again what are we going to do...

Peace, or "Mille Grazie!"

5. Thanks Scaramouche
I'd have to say there's a good chance I have read that many posts! And I agree about just how entrenched this regime may think they are. Winning may not be as hard for the Dems in 2004 as actually taking power away from * and his minions. But I like to think there is enough popular opposition to the Shrub (despite him having many fanatical admirers at the same time) that he won't be able to pull the same coup that he did in 2000. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part, but I'm just feeling more optimistic.

3. Congratulations! I also started my own thread when I hit 1000!
It is no small feat and I send you my sincere kudos!:toast:

I also posted my thanks. This is truly an amazing gathering of minds and personalities. You can come here for an education, information, camaraderie or support. And, yes, I also find it addictive.:-)

I tend to feel alternately optimistic or pessimistic about a Democratic victory in 2004, depending on the news I hear. I just know, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one, that I just could not stand four more years of Bush* & co. and their antics.:grr:

I fear for our country if that comes to pass.:scared:

You are also appreciated here, last_texas_dem! Since you live in Texas, I admire you, especially, for keeping up the fight!:hi:

:toast: CONGRATULATIONS!!! last_texas_dem!!! :bounce: 1000 POSTS!!! :wow: CONGRATULATIONS!!! :toast: last_texas_dem!!! 1000 POSTS!!! :wow: KEEP UP THE FIGHT!!! :kick:

6. Thank you Rhiannon12866
Thanks for the cool post! I agree about 2004; that would totally suck, and is scary to even think about. I've thought about moving to Canada but then decided that might be the same as surrendering my country to the extremists so have since reconsidered. (I probably won't be out of college before then anyway!)

BTW, I really like your name. I have a cousin named that who was the only Rhiannon I'd ever known. She was named after the Fleetwood Mac song. I think it's cool to now know someone else with the same name!

8. You're welcome, last_texas_dem! It was a pleasure and you
certainly deserve it, both for reaching 1000 posts, and for displaying the courage to be a Democrat in Texas! When I was in San Diego three years ago I met a woman, staying at the same ``residence inn'' who also claimed to be the last Democrat in Texas. I live in New York. The New York senatorial race was that year and she promised to call me if Hillary Clinton actually won, to celebrate. Hillary did win, she never called, but you now know that there's at least one other Texan who is a Democrat.:-)

It is a temptation for all of us to want to escape the evil and repressive Bush* regime. But if all of us were to leave, who would be left to fight? The neocons would have won.

Thanks for the compliment on my name. I love that haunting Stevie Nicks song. When I made my 1000th post thread, someone kindly posted the lyrics, inserting 12866 after all the ``Rhiannons.'':D

The reason that I had to add a number is that someone is already registered as Rhiannon. In the advent of DU.2, I looked her up and she has 0 posts. Evidently she registered, but never returned.:grr:

My best to your cousin and keep posting, last_texas_dem! We're glad to have you here!:hi:

10. Congratulations!
Now that you've reached 1,000 posts, I think its safe to say that you're not a freeper unless you are a very clever, very patient one. But that sort simply doesn't exist, does it? ;-)

I am much more optimistic than I used to be. The resident's approval ratings continue on a steady decline and the press is starting to report more on the problems he created. There have even been some good SCOTUS decisions in the past few months. I don't expect the economy to turn around significantly before the election, nor do I expect that Iraq will suddenly turn into a democratic paradise. I'm not pleased with these tragedies but at least they'll have a negative effect on *'s campaign. My biggest worries: the BFEE will commit some outrage to rally support and/or the election will be rigged.
