I cancelled cable ages ago...
I phoned the cable company and told them I wanted out. They tried to tempt me with months of free-viewing, but I insisted. Eventually (several weeks later) they came over and unplugged me from the matrix; but due to some glitch, maybe crossed wires outside, I was still receiving it (perfectly on some channels) through my VCR.

Wanting to be rid of it desperately, I nevertheless accepted this as fate. I subjected myself to a further 6 months of compulsive news-viewing, this time through a snow-filled screen.

On the day the war began, a bird must have disturbed the crossed wire and, thankfully, the cable went out completely. After that, all I watched was PBS with a set-top aerial. Before Christmas I put the aerial away, and I have used the set only to view dvd's since then. I am feeling much better now.

Pointless post, but there it is.

2. Nice one
My wife was understanding about the TV, but she'd have a problem with the woman-chasing.

3. I canceled it to but want it back for the Dem convention
I love not having it. I guess i could watch the minimal network coverage of the Dem convention with the rabbit ears.

I'm not sure what to do.

9. I have considered getting it
back just for that show. Or maybe the dish network for FSTV.

5. Too bad...
You're missing one of the best political shows since the Smothers Brothers--The Daily Show.

And CSPAN. No matter what you think of TV, to miss out on CSPAN is to miss out on history in the making.

8. I can't watch their call in shows
But I've learned more about history from watching CSPAN 3 than any course I took in college.

10. Been cable free since November of 2003
It hasn't been too bad actually. I was addicted to the history channel, but now hardly miss it. PBS is all we really need. Although I'm not partial to Barney, I enjoy their children's shows a lot more than what they had on the Cartoon Network. Its amazing how much more well behaved children can be without a daily dose of the Cartoon Network.

11. I didn't think broadcast networks were still transmitting their signals
over the air waves. Do you get good reception?
