God, I love women!
I do voluntary monthly computer maintenance work for this small private school for young children. Each time I go there I see sitting enthroned at the front desk a most incredible young lady!

Yesterday evening was the time of my monthly rounds, and I had an extended chance to (somewhat covertly) watch this sweet young female in action.

It never ceases to amaze me how the mind of a woman works-- while a man will stand there staring into space, drool on his chin, thinking of way cool stuff like flushing M-80s down public commodes or driving REAL FAST through sharp turns, the woman will be multitasking the day's activities to twenty decimal places!

This particular young woman was leading a maintenance man around, going over the things that needed to be repaired in the classrooms that night. Mister box of rocks (as in dumb as...) of course was following her, his tail wagging, his face vacant, trying valiantly to keep up as she went down her lengthy checklist at something approaching light speed. From room to room they went while I watched from a distance. It was fantastic! I fell in love (for the first time on that particular day).

At one point in the misspent portion of my life, the city where I happened to reside advertised for some open city police dispatcher positions. Being unemployed and with a LOT of empty time on my hands, I decided to go downtown and take the tests. Full of enthusiasm when I got there, I ended up changing my tune by the time the tests were finished. Needless to say, I was blown out of the water by all the young ladies who were also testing. I guess while I was thinking about how cool it would be to be able to wear a shiny police badge to work, the women were thinking about how to direct police, save lives, and several dozen other little inconsequential things. That day I had my definitive moment of realization. Women simply have better minds than men!

I walked away completely awestruck, and have had great admiration and respect for the better sex ever since. (Not that I didn't respect them BEFORE, but that respect was based on an entirely different reason. Refer back to the "drool on his chin" remark and I think you may begin to understand...)

I really do wish the women of the world would unite and simply take over-- us poor men simply have not the vaguest clue about how powerful a collective force the females would be if they finally decided it was time to put us good ol' boys in our places all at once. I for one sincerely wish they WOULD take over. A matriarchy would do us all good. And based on the little I know about women (what man can say otherwise?) if they slapped us down and took up the mantle, I sincerely believe the world would be at peace in a week.

Please, ladies, save us poor boxes of rocks from ourselves. Just give us a chance and we'll try to change. Honest!

--The only thing I can't figure out is, just what the heck is that Chinese character that young lady at the school had tattooed on the back of her shoulder?

Excuse me, I have some drool on my chin I have to wipe off.

1. Amen and a propos, the following
A woman gives birth to a baby. Afterwards, the doctor comes in, and says, "I have to tell you something about your baby."

The woman sits up in bed and asks, "What's wrong with my baby, Doctor? What's wrong?"

The doctor replies, "Well, now, nothing's wrong, exactly, but your baby is a little bit different. Your baby is a hermaphrodite."

The woman looks a little puzzled, "A hermaphrodite... what's that?"

The doctor says, "Well, it means your baby has both the... er... features... of a male and a female."

The woman turns pale. She exclaims, "Oh my god! You mean it has a penis and a brain?"

and raise you a menstrual migraine! Plus, I can have dinner in the crockpot and a two loads of laundry in -- and operate a home business.

Ain't multitasking grand! ;)

10. It's good to appreciate the opposite sex but why do women
appreciate us? or dont they?!...hairy asses and faces, rough hands and a bad habit of snoring (these are mostly male attributes)

23. there are things to appreciate
Some of the simple stuff:

Opening jars, lifting heavy things etc.
Taking our cars to the shop, taking out the garbage, cleaning out the gutters (things we'd rather not do.)

I don't know anyone who is a big fan of snoring or hairy backs (or asses) but they're not deal breakers. Don't get too metrosexual on us. Vive la differance! I may not want you to have a beard, but I like the fact that you can. George Clooney is pretty close to my ideal man. Great eyes. Handsome face. Awesome smile. But the absolute sexiest thing about him is his voice. It's masculine. I'd happily listen to him read the phone book.

12. This is the second time
within the last 4 hours that I've heard/now read the views of a man about women. Earlier today Wolfe Blitzer was interviewing Ted Turner who said their should be no men in elective office or positions of power for 100 years. Give women a chance to do things and we would be taking care of important things like poverty and education and health care. Makes a lot of sense to me. No woman in her right mind would ever send her children or another's children to be killed/maimed in a senseless war. Wonder why Bush doesn't have his beautiful daughters go to Iraq???

16. Margaret Thatcher would
Don't get me wrong, I love women and would gladly stock our government with women cause there is way too much testosterone there now. But some can be really evil. When you look through history, some of the most evil people have been women. Like Bloody Mary, Erzabet Bathory ("the blood countess" killed people and bathed in their blood) and many more.

scary

9. In my opinion, women aren't exactly smarter per say
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 08:04 PM by Massacure
I think it has more to do with a nature vs nurture thing. Girls tend to be nurtured in a much more positive "can do" environment, where as boys tend to repress each other.

100 years ago, boys were told they could do anything they wanted to, and girls were expected to take care of the house and kids. Now girls are told they can do what they want to, and well -- no one tells that to the boys any more.

15. I once heard the difference described this way
They compared 2 types of consciousness: the first was like a spotlight which was focused on one thing at a time. The second was like ambient light, and therefore took more into account and focus. I think women tend to be in the second type more, maybe because of having to watch children while completing other tasks.
All the women at work (all nurses too, of course) talk about how their husbands can't multitask. It's kind of funny, but strange for us because it comes so naturally.

25. What a terrific post!
And, Prisoner No. 6, you are approaching true wisdom. He who gives up gains all, while the arrogant, demanding man gets neither love nor respect. When you exalt the other, the other exalts you. "The last shall be the first, and the first, the last." You will be a much happier man for having cheerfully surrendered.

28. So did you think she was CUTE
or was it just all about her mind?

While I agree with most of your post, on a serious note, I see WAY too much man-bashing being accepted as perfectly ok by women and society in general. Women AND men are worthy of respect, when they are respectful people. And that has nothing to do with gender.

I get sickened by sitcoms and commercials in which men are constantly portrayed as idiots. And it seems to be ok with the men. Go figure. I feel sorry for little boys growing up watching that shite.

She also had a 3 year old daughter following her from room to room, so I didn't think it appropriate to focus too much on the physical attributes... O8)

34. That's certainly true about men on TV...
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 11:22 PM by chicaloca
But look at the credits of those shows and movies, and you'll see that most of the directors and writers are men, so I don't think it's some conspiracy by women to make men look dumb. Really, when you get down to it, nobody on TV or in the movies is portrayed in a realistic, fair, or accurate way. I don't see any women I identify with in movies or TV, either -- they're all thinner and taller than me, with longer, thicker hair, and all most of them care about is getting a man or what this spring's hottest shoe color is. That's why I don't watch much TV anymore -- it makes me too pissed off.

36. Also, I feel bad for little girls...
Who grow up hearing rappers calling them bitches and hos and talking about how they want to kill their mothers and wives, and who grow up seeing rape portrayed as titillating in movies and who have a 1 in 4 chance of being raped in their lifetime. But I'm not going to get into a pissing match about who's got it worse, because that won't get anywhere.

35. Heh....While I appreciate your sentiments...
I don't think women are biologically better at multitasking or anything. I think we're socially conditioned to be able to do loads of things at once, what with housework, kids, jobs, etc. Even women who don't have kids have seen their moms multitask when they're younger, which is probably where they learned it from. Also, I don't think we should take over the world -- power would probably corrupt us just like it's corrupted other groups in power. But if we can strike a fair balance of colors and genders (_all_ genders, not just men and women!) and classes in our power structures, then there might be some hope. :)

Anyhow, are you going to have a chance to see this woman again and maybe talk to her? ;)
