Political astrology - John Kerry

A Sun on the Ascendant Sagittarius, he has bounce, vigour, self confidence and high energy – not someone you’d miss in a crowd. A stellium of Mars and Uranus in the 6th, and Moon Saturn in the 7th, all in Gemini, are in opposition, which will make him a ratchety personality, prone to sharp comments and outbursts of temper. He will work exceptionally hard though always insist on walking his own road. His emotions are clamped down with the Moon Saturn opposition Sun, which could make him prone to depression at times, but he’ll struggle to do his duty and come up to expectation. He needs a close partner in life, might have married more for security than love, and will tend to attract partners who become a heavy responsibility. Jupiter in Leo along with his Sagittarian Sun in the 9th will make him well read and travelled, idealistic, keen to see the broad picture and to spread a hopeful message. Neptune on his midheaven suggest a caring or creative career would suit, though it’s often vague about direction.

This is a very airy chart, so he’ll be cool, up-in-his-head, analytical, not necessarily coming across sympathetically. The heavy Saturn will also add a sense of rigidity. But he does have an intense sexy Venus in Scorpio in the 11th, so he will cast a considerable charm over team relationships and friends.

His 8th house Moon’s North Node points to sexual energy being a driving force in his life. Venus also squares an 8th house Pluto, which hints at submerged depths, a tendency to manipulate behind the scenes, and perhaps a sense of never quite being in control of his life or his finances. Joint finances in business or at home will always be a fraught area, with constant tugs of war. With a good many mutable planets he will be restless, adaptable, perhaps too scattered in his interests, finding focus difficult. There is an odd sense of his chart not being quite together. The Sun opposition Gemini stellium is a see saw, drawn into a T square only by inserting Chiron. Chiron in Virgo does fall in the 9th so there may be a hint of someone whose energy could be pulled together to heal connections abroad. Similarly the Venus Pluto square and the Mercury Neptune square can only be tied into major configurations and thus developed to their full potential by inserting the asteroids.

PRESENT INFLUENCES:Saturn is on the upswing in his chart, suggesting he could be a two term president if he makes it, or have enough stamina for a return bout come 2008. He may run short of money from June 2004 for a couple of years and will be thrown back on his own resources, but he’s heading in the right direction.

Jupiter also moves across his midheaven for a year from late October 2004 onwards which usually augurs well for success, a rise in status and promotion. Before then he’ll have ups and downs. Late January to late February saw the whiff of scandal or smear arise which made him gloomy, feel disadvantaged and at odds with his wife or family, though it didn’t stop his winning run. That influence repeats mid June to late July; and mid October to mid November. He will be buoyed up by Pluto sextile Sun/Jupiter through late February to late April; and that confidently successful influence returns in mid December. He’ll be stuck at the beginning of May, down in mid June. Across the November due date he does have Jupiter transits to midpoints which look cheering.

KERRY:ASTRO CARTOGRAPHY:
Given that one of Bush’s warlike Mars lines ran straight through Afghanistan and his Pluto/MC = megalomania or destruction line runs through Iraq, Kerry’s astro cartography is of critical interest. His Jupiter IC runs through Moscow, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia suggesting he would have a positive, non-combative approach to the Middle East and Israel. He has Venus on the midheaven through the USA eastern seaboard so Washington will put his social star on its all time high. Jupiter Ascendant runs through Beijing so relations with China should be enthusiastic. His Mars and Uranus lines do run through Japan, possibly affecting Korea, which suggest that could be a conflagration area for him. Interestingly his Pluto Ascendant line, which is where he meets risk and the threat of force, runs directly through Saigon. His other Mars (war) line runs through Egypt, Ethiopia and Somalia. His Pluto MC line falls to the west of the USA off in the Pacific.
