Let's Post tricks & tips for the newbies:)

If you go to control panel and click on internet options, you can have the font in all your browsing show up as YOU want it.,.

You can change the color of the links...clicked and unclicked..

mine are purple unclicked and green clicked..

All my browsing shows up with MY fav font..


and

if you hold down on the ctrl and move the mouse wheel, you can change the font size...


and

if you hit backspace , it takes you to the previous page

and

F5 refreshes the page..

ZombyWoof and Coffee Coyote are the two nicest guys on DU who will NEVER give you any trouble. They both sell the best virtual coffee on DU too.

Plus, it helps if you post about yaks a lot.

I don't make them, so I have NO idea how they "work"..

Mmmm, Naderite stew, with an appetizer of Christian satay, and Astrologist cake for dessert... I hear it's absolutely heavenly.

Especially in the "please help with . . . " threads so that you don't look like a boobus posting at post 100 the exact same helpful item posted in post 1, and/or say the same thing that 20 other posts said in the beginning, and everyone has moved well beyond that already.

Also good to read the whole thread to make sure that the post your are going to flame actually says what it says it does - sometimes, if you read down a few more posts, that person will have explained him/herself better after a challenge. it just looks dumb to flame someone for something he/she was flamed for an hour ago and already explained was a typo/ommitted word/unclear writing.

And lastly - but not leastly - if Zomby Woof or Coyote Coffee offers you a personal tour of his "coffee roaster" or "coffee grotto", say no and start yelling "I need an adult! I need an adult!!". :spank:

IN THE SUBJECT LINE..give warning..

and in the post just post the link and then add a ?pic immediately after the .gif or .jpg

It will show up like this :

people may then decide whether or not they want to SEE the pic:)

that asks what your favorite song, movie, band, book, shade of lipstick is, put your answer in the subject line. More people will read your reply and/or reply to it if they don't have to click on it to find out what it is.

Example don't do this:

"My favorite sex toy is"

Do do this:

"I'm fond of vibrators"

unless you have something in your main text. It's incredibly annoying in long threads to click on a subject line and find no post.

Mouse wheel forward is equivalent to pressing the forward button, backwards is equivalent to the back button. Plus, if your cursor is on a link and you move forward, it is the equivalent of clicking on that link. Kind of pointless as it's just as easy to click on it.

Or use two pieces of paper with a pin sized hole in one and...

Puh-leeeeze include a snip from the article as well. Many people are not inclined to click the link to the article without a teaser from the article giving some idea what it's about. Post a couple paragraphs that caught your eye about the article to begin with. (Don't copy the whole article - that would be a copyright violation)

They need love and really aren't as mean as their cranky posts indicate
