Problem I have with a video game device

Yesterday I bought one of those devices that contains classic video games (Super Mario, Pac Man, etc.). It should just plug into your TV and be ready to go. The problem I have is that when I have it on to play a game the TV flickers back and forth between the TV program and the video game. It makes it very difficult to play the video games. The box only came with one little piece of paper, containing directions for installation. The device is called a "Power Player: Super Joystick". I have no idea what is causing this problem. Any ideas or suggestions? I can still take it back, if all hope is lost.

Check your cables. And, is there a video switch on the thing?

What cables would I check? There is an on/off switch. I had to plug the device in the RF modulator.

Channels 3 or 4. One of them usually isn't used in any given area.

Oh, I second the MAME suggestion. :D

Here channels 3 and 4 do broadcast, and I don't know how to switch it so that I can use the device on a channel other than 3 or 4.

5. Does yours look like this?

The one shown here uses RCA cables.. of which the yellow would plug into a 'Video In' and the white would plug into an 'Audio In'.

At that point you would need to put your TV or VCR into Video mode.

come to think of it, have you tried it through your VCR?

But the cords are yellow and red, not white.

It would not respond when I plugged it into the VCR. The VCR had no red outlet. Or maybe I was doing it wrong.

Problem is here, the box came with NO contact information for tech help and the instructions were flimsy.
