Power outage in Santa Monica

A part of Santa Monica has lost power. I am not sure how much. A coworker from out there told me.

1. This week was to be touch and go with the grid.

expect more of the same. They aren't done playing games with us
yet.

Course, this might not be a rolling blackout, just a malfunction...
but we WERE told just a few days ago that hot weather, combined with
less supply from western states hydro plants (no water), could
lead to a rolling blackout situation again.

I wonder if we can recall Arrrrnold now?

2. we've been warned that our grid is aging

last month we lost *two* major transformers in the Phoenix area. When the first one went out, these people were on the news saying "we think we've found a replacement, but we have to test it to make sure it meets the correct specs".

Think about that. Not only did they not have a spare, they didn't even know where they could get one, or if they could get one.

One of these days, we're going to wake up and discover that the USA has become just another third world country.
