1. Go to download.com and get the google browser bar....
it's convenient with the ability to have a constant link to Google and has stopped 100% of the pop-ups since I installed it.

GREAT little program!

4. I've had the Google toolbar for weeks...
I had no idea it had a pop-up blocker until now. Thanks!

5. Go directly to google, not download.com
http://toolbar.google.com

And get the non-advanced features version - the advanced features are Spyware.

8. Don't forget Opera
I've used it since 1996 and been very happy with it. I always get a laugh out of the few people here that have to suffer with Windows and use MSIE. It's fun to watch them play the close the porn window game.

7. Get Avant Browser
www.avantbrowser.com

It has a built in pop up blocker. It's a faster, easier browser to use then IE. You can open as many web pages as you want within one browser and just tab through them. Many, many wonderful features.
And I never, ever get a pop up/under..unless I want one. Like streaming radio players, the browser thinks they are pop ups and stops them, all you do is uncheck pop up blocker, get it playing and click it back on and surf away.

9. I've found
that adding

216.73.92.112 # doubleclick.net
216.73.86.110 # ad.doubleclick.net

to your firewall blacklist helps knock down a ton o' popups.
Helps get rid of annoying banner ads too.

If you don't have a firewall (you naughty person you ;) )
you can point either of those domains to 127.0.0.1 via your hosts file.
(/etc/hosts for linux/unix users... winnt/system32/drivers/etc for those using NT4/Win2K.... I dunno where they hide it in XP)

Hope this helps! :hi:
