It's almost 10PM...do you know where my child is??
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 08:59 PM by dolo amber
I had a severe lapse in judgement this afternoon and agreed to let her go off to church this evening with a friend. (She'll be 14 at the end of this month, for the record.) Normally that wouldn't be a huge deal, but I know for a fact the friend's family is like...scary snake handlers or something. The friend herself claims to speak in tongues at church on a regular basis.

The thing is, I took her over to the friend's house at like...4 o'clock.
Haven't heard a word, no answer at friend's house. :scared:

Do people have church till 10 PM? Being a filthy heathen I wouldn't have any idea...but it does seem a bit late to me.

1. I don't know
but regardless, that is way too late. If they'd planned on keeping your daughter out that late they should have let you know ahead of time. I hope you hear from them soon.

2. Do you have a phone number you can call?
Because I don't want to get you even more worried, but we used to use "church activities" as a cover when I was about 14-15 years old.

Breathe. Call the parents.

5. I only have the one number
I've tried it 3 times in the last hour...

I'd hate to have to be waiting in the nice church-goers driveway upon their arrival and tell them to go cheney themselves...:grr:

3. Ermmm probably not
I've been to vespers services, but that's over with in an hour usually. No snakes required. :scared:

Do you have the phone number of the family she's visiting? Perhaps a call for a status update would be good.

4. They do have church at 10 pm
but I've had too many freak out scary episodes when I think my kids should be home. Let us know when s/he comes strolling home.

6. OK, CALL OFF THE SEARCH
She *just* called...said 'they had a reception with snacks and stuff' after and she lost track of time...:eyes:

Still tho, the friend's parents should have had the consideration to let me know...

Sorry to alarm you guys. :hi:

9. OMFG!
Ok, so she called a while ago, said she was on her way...

Just NOW, the MOM calls me and asks if she's made it home yet...:wtf:

Me: "Ummm...hellooooooo....is she not with YOU?"

Her: "No, I was tired and didn't feel like driving, I had Joe (who the fuck is Joe??) from church drive them. *Sigh* Oh well, give me a call when they turn up, K?"

I may have to kill someone. :nuke:

11. Never, Ever, Ever
Let these people "take care of" your daughter. They are totally irresponsible.

12. And at this point...
I would tell them so. Not tonight. Just the next time you see them. They more than need to know.

14. I'm glad she's on her way
I'd be out for blood too, if this happened. Totally irresponsible of the parents.

16. Call the police
You're being given the runaround.

Phone the lady back, get a description of this "Joe" character and a description of the car. "Joe" does not have your permission for your daughter to be in his car, hence this is kidnapping.

17. I'm glad she's coming home
if circuitously.

I agree, these parents aren't the thinking type. Sorry 'bout that.

15. Unless you've prepped your child...
....and I mean really prepped your child, on how to reason against the whackiness and skewed or nonexsistant logic of religions, I'd suggest you think long and hard before letting her dance with those devils. People, young people, do on occasion get sucked into wacko "christian" religions... and it isn't because they are necessarilly stupid.

They could be love bombing her as we speak.

19. SHE'S HOME
Apparently they had to get gas...:eyes:

Whatever.

Thanks for the concern, guys. And have no fear, she will NOT be spending any more time with those people.

I think I'm gonna go throw up now. :(

20. Whew!
Glad she made it. Believe me, from my experience, people who "speak in tongues" are not the kind of people you want your daughter associating with. Would you let Ashcroft take her out?

21. You see I began this thread
with "I had a serious lapse of judgement"...

I'm just happy she's here now...I was having the horrible dismemberment visions that mothers have...

Like I said before, there will be no more associating with this family.
