Pilates - Day 2. Somebody shoot me.
I feel like someone hit me in the abs with a shovel.

I tried pilates for the first time last night. I've got about 15-20 more pounds to go to be at the weight I want and it's all sitting on my lower abs. So, since I had hit a plateau again and my regular ab workout seemed to be losing effectiveness...pilates.

So, I did it and when I was done I thought, "gawd I don't feel like I got a workout". So I hit the last half hour of a step aerobics class. By the end I thought I was gonna die. And idiot that I am...I went back and did the same thing tonight.

My tummy is owie. :) Got any volunteers to rub my tummy?

Someone tell me all this exercising is worth it. :)

1. I'm on about my 12th week of Pilates
It's for core strength, not for weight loss.

Even though I take it only once a week, I find that there's a definite strengthening effect, because exercises that are excruciating when I do them the first time go much better each subsequent week.

Two days after each Pilates class, I feel as if I've done 2,000 situps.

You may be overtraining in Pilates, because the way muscles build up is by being slightly injured and then healing. For example, it's recommended that you not lift weights more often than every other day.

3. I'm not so much doing it to lose weight...
that's what the low cal diet and step aerobics are for. I'm hoping though that the pilates help with finishing flattening my abs.

4. You can't spot-reduce
You can't lose fat in just one place without surgical intervention.

5. I know you can't spot reduce.
Believe me I know. I've lost just over 125 pounds in the last 2 years. It's just that the ab workout I've been doing ha shit the limit of it's effectiveness and I needed something new. I need to give my body another little shock.

6. I didn't realize you'd lost so much
Congrats!
Maybe you just have too much loose skin after losing all that weight.

7. There is a little of that...
but the very last of my fat is sitting on my lower abs and a little on my upper thighs. It's that last 20 pounds that is the hardest to get rid of.

I've hit a plateau at 150 and I'm having a hell of a time getting that scale to move again. Every time that happens I have to give my body a little shock by changing up my exercise routine. Hence...pilates and step aerobics.

2. Pilates..great!
I'm working with a girl group right now, (very popular group), and I start with pilates; these teenagers are dying! But the good thing is that they don't stress on it. They just have moved forward. Keep up the good work!

8. Do you do it from a DVD
or go to classes or what? Oh nevermind, on re-reading your post it looks like you went to a gym.

Wonder how worth it a Pilates DVD would be?

9. I'll let you know...
I'm planning on getting one of the DVDs anyway for those nights when I really don't feel like dealing with people at the gym. :)

10. OK I just checked out your homepage and I have to say
Ewan MacGregor is one of my ALL TIME favorite crushes.

My God that man needs to be naked more often. That's all I'll say about that. Too bad he's married.
