Two resumes went out. Wish me luck
I am starting to look after three years of not making the salary I was hired at. I found one job locally that I have a shot at, and one about 25 miles away that I should be very qualified for. We shall see.

The shame is I like my job and would prefer not to change. I like that I can work from home despite putting in a ton of hours. I like that I can get the job done without a boss breathing down my neck at every turn. I love being out on the front porch with my laptop working away. I love the people I work with. They have treated me like family. We all take as much time as we need so long as all the work gets done on time. Generally speaking, I like my customers. I love what we do, which is writing software for schools. It is a great cause.

I have been socking away as much money as possible in the event of unemployment (which isn't much, by the way) and thankfully, my wife's side business is taking off, but I am still nervous as hell. I just can't handle the constant moving money around to cover late or missing paychecks any more.

2. cheers, JM... hope it goes well for you.
:toast:

I'm in something of a similar situation that you're in now, but not really looking for anything at this point. It's a tough market out there, that's for darn sure. I hope it works out for you the way you'd like it to!

3. Thanks...
Tell me about it. For the first half of the year, it was 10-1 Philadelphia to Pittsburgh in terms of jobs posted. It has finally evened out somewhat, but I don't expect it to last.

Surprisingly, there are three new players in the educational software market that I just discovered. And they are local.

4. excellent!
Educational software is probably one of the better growth markets in the industry, IMHO. I'm in the VoIP market now, after having been in B2B for the past few years. It's been a refreshing change, albeit just as stressful.

I'm hoping VoIP will be a good growth market, too, but it's still too soon to tell. ;-)
