Do you own a 'kissy' dog?
We have two dogs, both males. One dog is VERY 'kissy', freely bestowing wet sloppiness upon any available face, hand, etc. ; the other dog, however, gives about 2 kisses a week, and it's usually a complete surprise when he does so. Both dogs are very affectionate, overall, including the non-kissy one.

Why the difference between our two pooches, do ya think?

3. All my animals are kissy.
I think I've trained them that way because when they are pups and start nipping, I get them to lick instead of nip. The best kisser was my Newfoundland...you would have to take a shower after one of her kisses! :-)

4. I have one dog, a Rottie
and 5 cats. They all have individual personalities so that can explain why one of your pooches is more kissy than the other. My boy is kissy and huggy. He loves kisses and hugs and also thinks he is a lap dog! I have one kitty who likes kisses.

5. Two different breeds?
Goldens and labs tend to be more mouth-oriented. Many Goldens will carry around anything soft in their mouth - tennis balls and socks are favorites. Labs not as much but they do tend to be kissers.

Could be the breeding for retreiving during hunting.

6. I know two dogs like that
The non-kissy one, which in my experience is unusual among dogs, is also very shy. So I'd say that's the difference. Have you had both since puppyhood?

7. Yes, we've had both since they were little fellers.

The non-kissy one is a Lab/Chow mix, and the kissy one is a Rottie/Shepherd mix...

:)

9. Are you kidding?
Once I decided to let one of our JRTs (the kissier one) lick my face 'til she was done.

I counted 115 licks before I finally had enough and had to stop her - she was still going strong with no sign of let-up.

10. No.
My dog will occasionally give a little "kiss," but she prefers cuddling to kissing. She will happily sit on your foot, lean in as close to your lap as she can get, or sleep with her head in your lap if she can get access. She'll nose your hand to encourage scratching or playing. But she doesn't "kiss" often.

11. Yes!
I have three dogs. Our big Lab can wrap his tongue around your face and does so often. I swear it is the longest doggie tongue I have ever seen. Our Golden shares kisses occasionally and our little pound puppy sits next to me for kisses. I make a mmmmmmmmmmmm sound and when I turn my head she kisses me on the lips. It is kind of funny. She would do it for hours, it seems to be our game and I have no idea where it came from.

14. Mine plays "Hold Still While I Lick Your Face Off"
While I'm lying down, he'll put on paw across my forehead, and another across my chest, then SLURP! SLURP! SLURP! SLURP! If I'm sitting up, it's paws on the shoulders.
