Defining "Politically Correct"...
Ok, first of all, I want to say the term "PC" doesn't carry much weight with me. I think it was a term created by some RW pundit to apply to anything which promotes sensitivity over hatred.

But, here's my question. Ultimately, pollitical correctness, by definition, means to allign with the status quo, doesn't it? I mean, to be correct, politically.

So, (hypothetically speaking, of course), you live in a society where the government is basically fascist, and has complete control of the media, and the social flavour of the day is hatred, intolerence, racism, warmongering, and elitism. Imagine hard.

Wouldn't that mean that being "Politically Correct" would require you to live your life along those same lines?

So, does that make Bill O'Reilly, Anne Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, et al, politically correct?

I don't know--what do you think?

1. It came up during Bush 1's re-election:
with the Family Values campaign a lot of people were isolated by what a "family" was supposed to be. Bush said it was made of man, woman and child, never taking into account extended families and other members.

Basically if you were a single person you were screwed because as far as everyone was concerned, you were immoral and living a life that didn't have the right values that made the country great (no, this actually was how the pukes believed).

"Politically Correct" was a term to describe that effort for social conformity and it was a pretty scary term. After Clinton got into office it was just thrown around really sloppily by the conservatives when they tried to use it against people with left-leaning views.
