Bad movie choices...
sigh... the bf and I wanted to see a movie yesterday. We considered:

The Bourne Supremacy
Manchurian Candidate
De-Lovely
I, Robot
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
The Village
Collateral

Sigh... we picked The Village. As William Hurt might say:

What a............ craptacular.......... experience that.......... was.

2. We think we'll go see Bourne today
got pretty good reviews and I've heard from some people that it was good.

6. it is
I'd give it a B; good action and story, but sometimes it has the feeling of a cheap production.
A bonus for using Berlin as stage for Berlin, a malus for using Berlin as stage for every other city as well.

3. I went into 'The Village'
Edited on Sun Aug-08-04 02:00 PM by liberalmuse
preparing to hate it, but was pleasantly surprised. I was so disgusted after 'Unbreakable' and 'Signs' that I hadn't planned on seeing another of this director's movies. I loved the lead actress in this one--I think she's Ron Howard's daughter? She made the movie. I also love Joaquin Phoenix, but he was underused, except for one or two great scenes. I'm stunned at Adrian Brody's role in this movie--what??? And Sigourney Weaver's. William Hurt annoys me. Ever since it came out that he abused Marlee Matlin, I've never again been able to like the pompous, postulating prick.

*************POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!************************
In white font (hopefully):

It definitely isn't a horror flick, IMO, but there was the interesting message about how 'the elders' of our communities have used fear throughout the ages in order to create a tight, cooperative bond amongst its members. It was sad yet understandable how the members of 'The Village' chose to handle and react to their pain by trying to re-create innocence. They had to use ugliness in order to keep that innocence, and even so, the pain of the world they left behind still entered their world. I think the movie was very interesting, and the cinematography was gorgeous.

4. We saw The Bourne Supremacy.

If you liked the first one, odds are you’ll like this one as well.It was great! I couldn’t even take a bathroom break for fear of missing a vital piece of the puzzle.

Right now we are flicking out with “The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns" DVDs.

Oops! Forgot to add that this is a stand alone movie. So if you have not seen the first one its not a real problem. From the beginning to the end this movie is in motion. Bourne is truly a lethal weapon. The stunts are amazing and the fight scenes are incredible .

8. The guy who plays
the mummy is scrumdelicious, in my opinion.

I can't watch that movie without having nasty thoughts involving his bald head.

But that's enough of that.

7. Should have seen
Napoleon Dynamite.

Not as many laugh out loud moments as I thought there would be, but I loved that movie so much that I wanted to eat it so that it would be a part of me.

9. Harold and Kumar
was pretty funny. It is interesting in that it features two Asian men and a Latina, but puts them in a standard college buddy, smoke dope and get the munchies genre. Race is present, but is not the overriding factor.
