Looks like the same basic (lame) premise ... at least from the trailer. Isn't that "Do you wanna play a game?" line the same, too?

5. It does have a Fear.com vibe

But the same reviewers who hated that film seem to love this one. :shrug: I've only been hearing good word about this one from horror fans. I don't think I've seen a negative review from a horror site yet.

It's too bad that films get sold like that. It might actually be cool, but ... eh? :shrug:

Actually, the first image made me think of "The Cell."

I do hope that it's as good as I have heard. The last film that I got screwed with by the horror community was "Cabin Fever", so I'm hoping to have better luck with "Saw", although it's in the end of the horror pool that I've never enjoyed as much as "monster movies". Give me a radioactive beastie over a serial killer flick anyday.

10. The director of the original Japanese version is doing the new version

And, while I didn't see it, the ads of the original one gave me nightmares. That's rare for me these days.

I'm way too tense these days to watch horror flicks. Of course, I had to make an exception for 28 Days Later ... great, great, great movie.

9. It amazes me how we keep pushing the envelop..

on fear. Friday The 13th movies use to be as frightening as this one, now we laugh at them. I can not imagine what the next 10 years will bring us.

Very disturbing, and I will probably go see it. LOL.

So to speak. It's pretty well done, esp. considering the production restraints. If grim n' gruesome are yer cup o' fetid tea, you'll dig it. Some good perfs, some over the top ones, coupla nice twists, etc.
