Why is everything listed according to Eastern Standard Time?
I'm in CST but I change when I post times to EST because it seems that is the way everyone does it.

Should the CST, MST and PST all rebel?

How many heads would explode if someone said when a show was on in Pacific Time?

Could the EST people convert to the other time zones or would they go blank because they never have too?

Just a couple of questions.

:P

1. Go into the options section here
At the top of the page.

You can change it to your normal time.:)

8. It is correct on my computer. I'm just talking about in general
conversation or whatever you want to call what we do around here.

It is just an accepted norm, that is never discussed - and maybe with good reason.

9. I agree
I stopped paying attention to Eastern time a long time ago.

My biggest question is, what's the deal with Central time, anyway? Why is everything an hour earlier there?

16. Does PT's prime time start at 8:00? so if they say things start at 8:00
EST that means they will start at 8:00 PT re prime time? Of course, live stuff would be on at 5:00 PT right?

Prime time in Central starts at 7:00, local news at 10:00, letterman at 10:30. So they are showing the shows for the first time both to Eastern and Central at the same time - it is just 8:00 EST, and 7:00 CST.

17. Pacific time is the same as Eastern
It's the Central time zone (and perhaps Mountain, although I don't know for sure) that seem to be an hour off). We're national news at 6 pm, prime time starting at 8, news at 11 kind of people out here. I've never understood the concept of Letterman being on at 10:30 before. It's always weird to visit Chicago!:hi:

7. They sure do
They even have a show called "The Heartland".

It makes me want to vomit because I have to constantly hear from a bunch of co-workers how wonderful the midwest is and how the rest of the country should listen to them.

I've been there. It's basically a 3rd world country

13. OK, I've lived my whole life in the Midwest and Denver. I can't stand
the heartland, "heart and soul of America" BS but it sure as hell isn't like living in a 3rd world country.

There are probably places closer to a "3rd world country" relative to poverty, health care, etc in both the large cities, small cities and rural areas.

Frankly, some areas of the world would consider the terrible spots here luxurious compared to where they are living in Sudan, or North Korea or lots of places.

Talk about fighten words, buddy.

You're lucky I have to go put my kids to bed.

:wtf:

14. I was thinking more of the ignorance and religious fundamentalism
than the poverty. But large parts of the midwest are still dependant on an agrarian economy.

You don't see a lot of book banning or 'creation science' in NY.

3. Because the major cities are on the East Coast - like NYC
when you get a city bigger than NYC in your time zone then you can be the #1 time zone

15. The whole world should operate on GMT
It would simplify things for those who have to cross time zones now and also eliminate that DST time change twice a year.

18. You know what's worse than dealing with DST?
Having to deal with DST AND British Summer Time. Anyone who's traveled to/from Europe around late March/early April knows exactly what I'm talking about.

There is nothing like losing an hour of sleep the night before your 5:45 AMflight from München to Frankfurt, and then having to deal with it AGAIN the next weekend while you're still recovering from jet lag.

Sorry for the rant, but DST sucks. Screw the farmers, kick em in the ass and make em get up earlier. :D
