"yo, there's a white guy at the other end of the hall!"

I've become something of an object of curiosity at school in this first week.

My hall-monitor duty first thing in the morning puts me in a corner of the building that remains largely deserted until the kids are let out to homeroom. A couple of 7th graders at the other end of this extremely long hall (the school is huge, and the student population is 100% African-American, btw) were horsing around this morning and obviously thinking about skipping out of the cafeteria, where they're supposed to be until 8:45. Then they looked down the way and saw me standing there.

"Yo, there's a white guy at the other end of the hall!"

They ducked around the corner on their end and kept peeking around it to see if I was looking for 3 or 4 minutes before an administrator snagged them by the short hairs and put them in the cafeteria. :)

I know I'm white. :D I got told by one of the older teachers this week that the reason my kids have been relatively well-behaved is because of the "blue-eyed devil thing". :wow:

No, what I was going to say is stock up on lots of Afro Sheen and Activator. :D
