1. Ever see Austin City Limits during his "Old Ways" days?
He did 50 minutes of cowpoke stuff with the International Harvesters. Then he did a 10 to 15 minute version of "Down By The River"...fully electric, with Old Black. He did an extended bit where he sang "Be on my side..." followed by squeezing a few notes out of Old Black...then another, more mournful "Be on my side"....more notes, more whammy bar...another "Be on my side," now bordering on anguish...

It was THE MOST AMAZING version of D.B.T.R., coming at the end of a show that was, well..."real down home."

:toast:

4. the real Neil Young
Oh yeah. I was about to give up on Neil when he was on Geffen, but I still have "Old Ways" on vinyl, so I must have seen a glimmer of hope.

Great description. I would love to see that!

I do have his performance with Old Black on SNL's '89 season premiere when he did "Rockin' In The Free World" and "No More". Holy hell! He was back for good.
