Next time you want to have fun, here's an idea:
Take off your clothes, pose in front of a professional photographer and have the results bound in a calendar and sold to the general public.
Now that's fun!
At least, according to McHenry County Historical Society manager Nancy Fike, who managed to persuade 21 prominent McHenry County residents it would be a hoot to shed their clothes for the whole world to see.
"This is a substantial organization that has its head firmly put on," Fike said of the 40-year-old society. "But, by golly, the world needs a lot of humor."
You'll be sure to find it within the pages of the society's latest fund-raising venture - a glossy portfolio of McHenry County movers and shakers, as you've never seen them before.
"We're not a bunch of old doddering people," Fike said of the society's membership. "People who are preservation-minded are very (progressive.)"
Still, Fike acknowledged it took quite a bit of courage for the participants - elected officials, engineers and even grandparents - to pose in various states of undress.
