Human Rights Campaign Scammed Me
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 08:36 PM by disenfranchised
Someone from the Human Rights Campaign came to my house when I wasn't home and spoke to my girlfriend. He told her he was here to collect a $35 check which I agreed to give him. When she said I wasn't home, he said how long he had driven to collect from me and how I give every year...etc. None of it was true. My girlfriend relented and wrote a check.

I know it's my girlfriend's fault for getting conned, but what the hell kind of organization is the Human Rights Campaign? That's the sleaziest solicitation method I've ever encountered. I'm pissed. I tried contacting them by phone and e-mail to complain about the way they lied, but no one seemed to care.

Is this type of thing normal?

1. Are you sure it was HRC?
And not someone representing himself as HRC?

3. They left literature and stickers.
And the check was made out to HRC.

6. I always give in July... last year, 'they' called in December...
'they' gave a bunch of excuses as to why I should renew 'early'.

Their records wouldn't be so poorly handled to try to do a double-dip like that.

Who went after me probably went after you as well.

7. I used to be a big supporter of the HRC
and stopped when they endorsed Al d'Amato over Chuck Schumer in a year when control of the Senate was at stake.

8. What organization drives over to collect a check in person...?
Let them wait for the mail like everyone else.
