Anybody here own a Land Rider bicycle?
I'm watching an infomercial on it. Looks like a pretty good bike. They even just had Pat Patterson on, a guy who's done bike trips around the world apparently, and used the Land Rider.

Everything seems cool about it, but it's also an automatic shifter and I'm not sure if I'd like that on a bike. (though manual shifting is also allowed)

1. Pat Patterson?
Sounds phoney.

very clever shifting mechanism. My new car is a stick shift so I can tell people that I have a manual shift car and an automatic bike. I have ridden bikes off and on all my life but I don't particularly like to shift one when I'm riding these days. The bike is, BTW, of quality construction.

3. Is that the bike with the flyweight governor on the derailer?
I've seen that infomercial. Intriguing, but I like shifting my own, since some times I want to spin at 90, and sometimes 80.

Had a guy ask me today if FrankenBike had index shifting. "No..." said I as I reached down and poked at the shift lever and had it go "Chunk!" into the next gear w/o chewing on the chain....
I think the Suntour VGT was one of the finest derailers ever built. Put it with a Shimano HG freewheel, and it shifts like a dream....
