1. God creates himself in mysterious ways.
Now stop asking questions before you go blind.

9. I'm weird?
I'm not the one going around asking questions in topics of posts and then asking "what questions did I ask?"

Because that's just plain weird.

28. LOL - An attempt to dump on concept of God the Creator by saying
God must be created.

I realize it is just kids trying to have fun with words well before they have studied at a college level either faith requiring concept -"GOD" or "PHYSICS" - so your "Kung Fu lessons grasshopper" was spot on.

Thanks for the smile this morning!

:-)

If your statement is true we can't exist.

Obviously something came from nothing.

14. Mmm, I don't know. Seems like a dodge of the question to me.
One could just as easily say, the thing that "banged big" was always there.

12. Read much Sartre lately?
"Transcendental consciousness is an impersonal spontaneity. It determines its existence at each instant, without our being able to conceive anything before it. Thus each instant of our conscious life reveals to us a creation ex nihilo."

nothing.

I read somewhere that all the positive and negative forces in the universe add up to nothing.

27. If Jesus saves...
"If Jesus saves
Well He'd better save Himself
From the gory glory seekers
Who use His name in death!"

Sorry, I can confirm nothing except that hare didn't care: the lost spectacles were his own affair... and after all, hare did have a spare... pair
a-pair...
a-pair-r-r!

Actually, my favorite Tull album nowadays would have to be Passion Play. Gotta love the musical ambition and the lyrical impenetrabilty of it!

Wheee! We're off-topic! :D

24. Both God and Satan...
Both God and Satan were created by humans, out of the deep, terrible fear we have of being solely responsible for our actions.

We are afraid of being on our own, alone, so we invent "God" so we don't have to feel alone. Many children have imaginary, invisible friends so they won't feel alone even though they are. Many adults have an imaginary, invisible friend for the same reason.

Similarly, we are afraid of having to be wholly responsible for our own wrongdoings, so we invent "the Devil." Then we can feel a bit less responsible for our evils by saying "the devil made me do it." And when humans do something incredibly horrible, such as terrorist attacks and beheadings, we can avoid admitting that humans are capable of and responsible for such evils by telling ourselves there was an "evil force" behind it. Many people just don't want to admit that human beings can do such evil things.

Both God and Satan are inventions resulting from our fears. Our adult "invisible friend" so we don't have to admit we're alone, and our "invisible enemy" so we don't have to blame ourselves or confront the extreme darkness of humanity's worst deeds.

29. Even if there is no God...
Did you guys see this great modern Polish poem in the New Yorker?

Even if there is no God
Not everything is permitted to man.
He is still his brother's keeper
and he is not permitted to sadden his brother
by saying there is no God.

30. How was the universe created?
Some say the big bang... well what was there to be banged big? If there was something, even the teeniest, tinyest atom, then where did that come from?

Same thing as the question about the Creator.

Sometimes, we all have to admit, that there are things we will never know anything about.

35. Existence is like a lung. It breathes in, it breathes out.
Our universe was created by the implosion of the previous universe, which was created by the implosion of the previous universe, and so on ad infinitum.

37. The pulsating universe theory is no longer in favor
...among cosmologists.

Which does not mean it's wrong, of course.

This all is the venerable First Cause argument, that either you have an infinite regression, or at some point, you have a First Cause.

You can call the First Cause God.

QED--except that that doesn't necessarily mean anything. It certainly doesn't spit the Bible into your lap.

The argument is that infinite regression is simply incomprehensible. But then, so is God.
