Thank you to EVERYONE who made this past weekend a success
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 12:33 PM by LynneSin
I swear I always say this time is the last time I organize anything like this!!! But in the end everything turns out wonderful.

I'm thrilled with all the old friends and new ones I've met from here at DU. These protests are so wonderful to attend but it makes it even more wonderful when you can join other great folks and march as a group (although mind you, in that large crowd we kept losing folks left and right  ).

Rumor has it there may be one last major rally in Washington DC right before the election and I'm sure we'll manage to do something to show the DU presence.

HOWEVER...

If you can't make it to these big events that doesn't mean you can't meetup with other DUers in your area. I know I was shy & scared the first time I went to a DU gathering (well I was actually a co-hostess with Ramsey, someone I barely knew). I had always perceived that folks who met other folks from online websites are pretty much freaks who don't have a grip on reality. That notion was wiped away the weekend before my first Philly DU gathering when I had met Ramsey, Skinner & Earlg at an Emily's List luncheon. I knew at that moment that my perceived notions were all pretty childish!

So the moral of my story - if you see a DU gathering in your area: GO TO IT!!!!!! If there hasn't been one in your area, then organize one. Or go to your DU State Forum and just post about meeting up with other folks in your area even for something as a Saturday afternoon of campaigning for John Kerry or working with other great groups like MoveOn or ACT.

This is an AMAZING group of people and I've probably met close to 200 DUers in person and I've yet to meet any 'scary' people (I'd say crazy but then again we all get crazy at these events). This is an amazing website filled with amazing people - go out there and meet them and be a part of this great movement.

BTW - not only has this website made some great friendships out of it, but we have a couple of relationships including a few marriages formed from folks meeting here at DU.

1. And thank YOU for getting everyone so involved...
If there's something in Washington... I promise to try me best to make it this time. Thanks again for being such a positive and vibrant force here. :toast:

(Of course, I might be that one scary person you haven't met yet...) Nah... O8)

:loveya: and glad you're ok.

7. Thank YOU Lynne!
I had so much fun, DUers are the coolest people on earth. I almost didn't go because I'm shy (and at Rocky's spent a lot of time in the back by myself :P) but I had a really good time. And everyone keeps asking me where I got the Pants on Fire doll. :)

Everyone was so fun to hang out and protest with. Best. Site. Ever. :)

I have no idea what it means, but I'll have to ask about that the next time we all get together.

9. Shy and scared?
That's not the LynneSin I know! Our DU parties have been great!!

Anyway, I concur completely. I'd suggest that DUers connect with local folks through the Kerry Meetups too. We had one this week in Philly, met lots of new folks and got info for organizing the regional campaign activities.

14. I second the Kerry Meetups!
The ones here are quite large, and have great speakers and opportunities to meet like-minded folks!

:hi: Ramsey!

17. I can honestly see the attraction
I felt all warm and fuzzy when that stuff kicked in; however, I can honestly say I have no desire to ever feel that out of control of my own self again.

...well, remember is a bit strong. Vagu recollection of events is more like it. :-)
