The Pollyanna post - What are you thankful for? What makes you happy?
Sorry - I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment - just wanted to find out what makes other people happy. (I'm usually a glass half-full kinda guy). Here's my list, for starters...

Lucky enough to have a loving family. I've led an almost Norman Rockwellian existance so far.

I'm relatively handy around the house - I've saved quite a few $$$ over the years by doin' it myself.

MOST people appreciate my sense of humor.

Hey, I could go on for awhile, but I won't.

Just want to know - What are you thankful for?

1. Thankful for a short commute
I used to live in the suburbs. No social life, nothing to do and a long commute twice a day that wore me out. Now I live in an urban area where there are lots of interesting single people, things to do at night, and my commute is only 3 miles/10 minutes. The rent is higher but not enough to bust me.

Even though I don't own it, I'm thankful for my apartment.

2. Contradancing
Edited on Thu Sep-04-03 01:03 PM by HERVEPA
Definition 3: whimsical
Contra dance is a form of dance that thrusts a different person of the opposite sex into your arms every 30 seconds or so.
Actually, this is only true sometimes. It might be more prudent, but less whimsical, to say that contra dance is one of the few dance forms where by the end of the evening you are likely to have danced with everyone.

(And you can learn the basics in a 30 minute free group lesson before the dance)

3. time
to enjoy all things i am thankful for.

i see so many people rushing around, doing this and that and complaining they don't have time to do the stuff they'd like to do.

well i make the time to enjoy the little things.

hanging with my son and SO-talking laughing reading!
walking right after a rainstorm
conversations with friends
cooking
etc
etc

6. I'd like to thank all the little people
who made this possible for me tonight.

My mom and dad, of course. Even though they discouraged me from pursuing a career in show business from the very start and cut me off without a cent at 15 and kicked me out of the house and I had to do the homeless male prostitute gig for a while so I could eat and dad did sell that piece to the National Enquirer about my alleged incest with Sis, they were always there for me.

The list is so long I really can't cover you all, but you know who you are.
Two people who have made a HUGE difference in my life that I would be truly remiss not to mention here at this gala celebration tonight:

My head-holder guy....whatshisname...anyhoo, the guy who's always there just to hold my head up when I'm doing my nightly bulimic purge worshiping the porcelain God. I totally owe my slim wiry body to you bud. We're NOT paying him enough!

And the sweet little Vietnamese or Korean or whatever she is who presses my shoelaces. That July spread in GQ? That was all YOU baby.

Thank you. Thank you all.
Good night.

7. Gosh - that's a pretty good acceptance speech for off-the-cuff!
...Because I can see your index cards back at your table - yes, right over there - in between John Davidson and Marilyn Manson...
