I'll leave this open to discussion.

Call it a trivia thing.

6. Yep. Michael Moore.
That's the only major picture besides Bowling and Roger & Me that I know he did. Was he mostly in independent film (ala Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino)????

4. It really is.
I like the high proportion of actual Canadian actors in that movie. John Candy, Alan Alda, etc...

12. Someone once said about the movie:
"If you think Niagra Falls looks really crappy in Canadian Bacon, Don't worry. It really looks that way in real life, too."

14. It really does
The NY side is a total shithole, and the Canadian side has the usual shithole tourist traps. It all sucks, my brother was the first person ever in our family to get food poisoning from a restaurant, in Niagra Falls.

Fuck that place.

16. I always found them depressing
It was mostly due to the absolute poverty (which MM obviously latched onto), crossing the border there for business reasons was always depressing. There's just nothing ever good about that place. The falls will always churn out a given amount of energy, that in turn will spit out a given amount of support jobs, which in turn will spit out more kids that had better leave before getting trapped into the cycle. And oh yes, you can see the cycle, abandoned factories everywhere, rundown shithole bars, the occasional "please buy our Niagra trinkets or our kids will starve" booths.

It's the new Detroit.

that prevented that.
