any Linux users here? I have an X question

I'm working on a wxPython program. I create a window in position 1. I use the mouse to move it to position 2. I hide the window. I restore the window. It appears back at position 1. What do I need to do to make it come back where it should, position 2? It works just fine under mswindows. But it doesn't work under any window manager that I've tried under Linux. I've tried gnome/sawfish, icewm, blackbox, fluxbox, xpde and fvwm95. So I figure it's the underlying XFree86. Anyone know?
