"Bank Of Bedrock" Shut Down - Turns Out To Be 'Flinstones' Joke
<snip>

DENVER -- The Bank of Bedrock is closed for business.

The Internet bank has been shut down after federal regulators determined it was phony.

The address for the First National Bank of Bedrock, given on its Web site, didn't actually exist.

And the name under which the site was registered was fake, too.

The Web site offered deposit accounts, investments, debit cards and credit cards.

Regulators say the Web site could have been an attempt to collect personal information.

Others say the Web site could be a joke. The company shared the same name as the town on the "Flintstones" TV show.

1. First mistake--Bedrock is in northern Arizona, about 20 miles
from the main entrance to the Grand Canyon.
