Perhaps I am overly suspicious, but I've always been afraid of being ripped-off by bank employees. Once, several years ago, I couldn't get to the bank before it closed, but I needed to make a cash deposit to my checking account. I figured that it would take very little effort for the employee to open the envelope, pocket the cash, trash the deposit slip and go on a shopping spree with my small fortune and no one would be the wiser until my checks start bouncing (because that deposit I made never got credited).

So, if I must leave a deposit for my personal checking account in the overnight drop box, no matter what time of night it is, I stop at a convenience store, buy a money order and deposit it in the overnight box.

Does anyone else here do this, or am I strange????????????

I find them safe and very dependable, I've experienced the bank sending me letters telling me that I forgot to add a check to my total and notified me that the correction was made to my account. You typically get a receipt, I think it would be a much better option than buying a money order.
