A refrigerator fell on me. (Baby is FINE.)
So, our fridge broke, and when I got home last night there was no one home and a new fridge in my living room. It was on wheels, and very light to move, so I decided it would be safe to move it myself. I wanted to get it into the kitchen and plug it in so I could transfer all our food into it before everything went bad. So I'm pulling it along and everything is fine, then I hit a bump between my living room and kitchen and end up supporting the weight of the whole thing to keep it from falling right over on me. I feel this ripping sensation in my lower abdomen, and I've never been so scared in my life.

I'm 39 weeks pregnant. I should not be moving refrigerators. Why am I such an idiot? THANK GOD, I just pulled a muscle and the baby is fine. But I'm still scared anyway. I keep feeling for him to move every 3 minutes. I can't stop checking on him. I'm not getting anything done today, cause I can't keep my hands off myself feeling for the baby to move.

The closer I get to the day, the more worried I get. I can't wait til I can see him and see that he's healthy. I'm so damned nervous!

...til his eviction! He's got a nice big room all ready for him. Way better than a crowded uterus!

My water looks good. His heartbeat was strong as ever. I'm just a worry wart. I keep thinking there will be some delayed effect. I just have to calm down.

Thanks.

10. That's what I'm saying!
I should have waited for my husband to come home. What's losing 30 bucks worth of groceries compared to losing our baby? I just am so sick of not being able to do things, and I thought it would be safe. But I didn't think it through enough. Now I just want to stay home until the baby is born.

21. I know
My husband caught me standing on one of the dining room chairs to reach up and dust the top of the cupboards off at 39 weeks. It's a late third trimeseter thing, I think.

I'm glad the baby is okay. They really are so protected in there, but it's hard not to worry. They feel so fragile in our bellies.

14. Good to know everything's okay...
You really should just try to relax, you'll need lots of saved up energy for the big day and a couple of weeks after.

You're probably soooooo ready to have that baby in your arms instead of your belly... only 11 days... you must be so excited!

It's probably the hardest but most amazing thing you'll do. In the first week, you'll feel every emotion under the sun, but be totally in love with your little person at the same time. I hope all goes wonderfully for you. :)

31. Thanks so much.
I just want him to be healthy. I'll be SO GRATEFUL. Also, I know that having the baby at home will be a lot of work, but I'm SO looking forward to being on leave. I've been working 50-70 hours per week for ages. I want to spend 3 days in bed doing nothing but eating, sleeping and breastfeeding.

You all are the best!

my neice is pg and was having some trouble so the Dr loaned her a machine, anytime she needs reassurance that everything is ok she can listen.

35. I thought about getting one..
...but I was afraid I'd be obsessed with it. I only have 11 days to go, and mostly, he's very active. I get nervous when he sleeps and I start poking my belly. Then my husband says, "Let him sleep you worry-wart!" I just want him to be healthy. I couldn't take it if anything happened to him. How do parents learn to get over the worry that comes from loving someone so much and being responsible for their safety? I guess I will figure it out.

38. you don't
and my baby is 11 now. Before my husband died, he bought our son a new Honda 100 CSR dirt bike. Every time my son gets on it, I have visions of he most horrible of accidents. He teases me, oh mom... come and watch this jump..the trick of the week is wheelies and my new vision is him landing flat on his back. But what can I do but hold my breath and pray? If we don't let our children take risks, then they grow into adults afraid to take risks. congratulations on your new baby, prepare for the most scary, wonderful ride of your life.. being a parent.

33. Jeez, you're as bad as my wife
She's 33 weeks, and she rearranged my daughters bedroom last week, spraining her knee in the process.

Sit down, relax, and do your best to enjoy your last weeks of pregnancy. Also, ask your doctor if that "pulled muscle" is diastasis recti. During pregnancy the abdominal muscles are stretched to their breaking points, and overstressing them can cause them to separate along the center of your abdomen (with the ripping sensation you described). It happens to many women during pregnancy and isn't a big problem, but you'll want to do light crunches for a few weeks after the baby is born to help the muscles heal back together properly (very important for future pregnancies or if you ever want decent abdominal muscle tone again).

In 11 days I'll no longer be pregnant. I'll be a mom. And I'm so glad I have someone to share the responsibility with. I've loved having my son inside me, but I'm ready to share. I'm ready to fall down the stairs or lift a box the wrong way and only have to worry about whether I hurt myself.
