Urgent... Need advice... 2000 Eclipse GS, 5 speed w/ 96000 miles
It's going for 6100. Looks to be in great condition. No scratches or nicks on the exterior, and it has a sunroof and spoiler. Does anyone out there know if this is a good deal or not? My family doesn't know anything about stick shifts and thinks the clutch might be affected by the high mileage.

1. Clutch is a minor thing....BUT....BIG BUT
That high of mileage in a 2K car pracically screams RENTAL.

The good body does too.

They keep the body up on rentals.

I'd stay away from a former rental.

3. I had an Eclipse and a Galant in the early '90s
They are without question some of the worst automobiles ever made.

The Eclipse's transmission had to be replaced at 30,000 miles.

The Galant's engine (warped head) had to be replaced at 40,000 miles. Just after it got out from under the warranty.

Both cars were bought new and about two years old at the time.

My advice is to stay away.

5. Mitsu's have notoriously bad transmissions, would agree that
the mileage sounds rental, thats a lot of miles. You can check on Kelly Blue book on the web to find the going rate for make, model, mileage, etc. Not sure of Kelly website, but can be found on Yahoo.
