I'd say "Hand Me Down World" by the Guess Who. It hasn't dated whatsoever.

I'd make *'s followers, mostly arrogant farts (no shock there), listen to it for a month straight.

By Lou Reed. And 126 hours would be just the beginning.

Failing that, a Carpenters Extravaganza, finished with several hours of "Good Morning, Starshine". Glibby gloop gloopy up his ass.

17. God Thinks by Voltaire
God thinks all blacks are obsolete farm eqipment
God thinks the Jews killed his son and must be punished
God thinks the white man is Satan
God, they know what God thinks

God thinks we should all convert to Judaism
God thinks we must all be Christians and
God thinks we should all embrace Islam
God thinks the only true religion is Hinduism

And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're a waste of flesh
God prefers an Atheist

God thinks all people like you are evil
God thinks all people like you are an embarassment to creation
self-righteous, judgemental, first to throw the stone
and use His name for your own protection

God thinks the sun revolves around the Earth
God thinks there was something very wrong with Copernicus
God thinks abortion is murder and
God thinks everything that science gave us is wrong
God thinks women deserve it
God thinks AIDS is a form of punishment

I hate people who blame the Devil for their own shortcomings and
I hate people who thank God when things go right

And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're an idiot
God prefers a heretic

God God
God thinks all people like you are evil
God thinks all people like you are an embarassment to creation
self-righteous, judgemental, first to throw the stone
and use His name for your own agenda

God is a liberal
God is a democrat
God wants you to vote republican
never trust a man who puts his words in the mouth of god
and says that it's absolute truth
its lies and it smells like death
its all in a day's work taking money from the poor
Why do you think that God would need your dirty money
if he wanted to start a holy war?

self-righteous, judgemental, first to throw the stone
and use His name for your own protection

God thinks puppies need to die and
God thinks babies need to drown
'cause God is neither good nor bad
God is you and me
God is Everything

24. Christmas in the Trenches (John McCutcheon)
"My name is Francis Tolliver, I come from Liverpool.
Two years ago the war was waiting for me after school.
To Belgium and to Flanders, to Germany to here
I fought for King and country I love dear.
'Twas Christmas in the trenches, where the frost so bitter hung,
The frozen fields of France were still, no Christmas song was sung
Our families back in England were toasting us that day
Their brave and glorious lads so far away.

"I was lying with my messmate on the cold and rocky ground
When across the lines of battle came a most peculiar sound
Says I, ``Now listen up, me boys!'' each soldier strained to hear
As one young German voice sang out so clear.
``He's singing bloody well, you know!'' my partner says to me
Soon, one by one, each German voice joined in harmony
The cannons rested silent, the gas clouds rolled no more
As Christmas brought us respite from the war
As soon as they were finished and a reverent pause was spent
"God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" struck up some lads from Kent
The next they sang was "Stille Nacht." "Tis `Silent Night," says I.

"And in two tongues one song filled up that sky.

"There's someone coming toward us!" the front line sentry cried
All sights were fixed on one long figure trudging from their side
His truce flag, like a Christmas star, shown on that plain so bright
As he, bravely, strode unarmed into the night
Soon one by one on either side walked into No Man's Land
With neither gun nor bayonet we met there hand to hand
We shared some secret brandy and we wished each other well
And in a flare-lit soccer game we gave 'em hell
We traded chocolates, cigarettes, and photographs from home
These sons and fathers far away from families of their own
Young Sanders played his squeezebox and they had a violin
This curious and unlikely band of men

"Soon daylight stole upon us and France was France once more
With sad farewells we each prepared to settle back to war
But the question haunted every heart that lived that wonderous night
``Whose family have I fixed within my sights?''
'Twas Christmas in the trenches where the frost, so bitter hung
The frozen fields of France were warmed as songs of peace were sung
For the walls they'd kept between us to exact the work of war
Had been crumbled and were gone forevermore

"My name is Francis Tolliver, in Liverpool I dwell
Each Christmas come since World War I, I've learned its lessons well
That the ones who call the shots won't be among the dead and lame
And on each end of the rifle we're the same"

46. i dont know, i have the cd you can find at the site below
http://www.folkmusic.com/f_music.htm

once you hear the song sung, you will know why i posted it. whenever friends and i gather at christmas we always talk about our favorite christmas songs and play them. invariably, i select "christmas in the trenches." by the time the song is over we are usually in tears.

the real power of the message of jesus is not in moving mountains, but in changing the human heart.

the song refers to a true story from the winter of 1914.

if for only a little time, those who fought in deadly combat ceased their battles and joined together to celebrate the ancient birthday of jesus, then his message of peace and goodwill towards all humanity survives.

33. TV SHIT by Sonic Youth
Now I'm a big SY fan, but this "song" (it's the whole side of an album) is unlistenable and has been known to send some people straight into the mental ward. Imagine a carwreck that lasts throughout the song with guitars over it. Throw in some screaming and samples and there you have "TV SHIT". I don't think you're supposed to listen to it. In fact, I think it was banned by the Geneva Convention.

51. Won't Get Fooled Again
by The Who

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

52. "Piggies"
Written by George Harrison and John Lennon

Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

In their styes with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around
In their eyes there's something lacking
What they need's a damn good whacking.

Everywhere there's lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon.

56. Dear God by XTC
Dear god,
Hope you got the letter,
And I pray you can make it better down here.
I don’t mean a big reduction in the price of beer,
But all the people that you made in your image,
See them starving on their feet,
’cause they don’t get enough to eat

From god,
I can’t believe in you.

Dear god,
Sorry to disturb you,
But I feel that I should be heard loud and clear.
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears,
And all the people that you made in your image,
See them fighting in the street,
’cause they can’t make opinions meet,
About god,
I can’t believe in you.

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you?
And the devil too!

Dear god,
Don’t know if you noticed,
But your name is on a lot of quotes in this book.
Us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look,
And all the people that you made in your image,
Still believing that junk is true.
Well I know it ain’t and so do you,
Dear god,
I can’t believe in,
I don’t believe in,

I won’t believe in heaven and hell.
No saints, no sinners,
No devil as well.
No pearly gates, no thorny crown.
You’re always letting us humans down.
The wars you bring, the babes you drown.
Those lost at sea and never found,
And it’s the same the whole world ’round.
The hurt I see helps to compound,
That the father, son and holy ghost,
Is just somebody’s unholy hoax,
And if you’re up there you’ll perceive,
That my heart’s here upon my sleeve.
If there’s one thing I don’t believe in...

It’s you,
Dear god.

"What does the Lord require for praise and offering..."

and has the refrain, "Do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God."

It's so opposite from everything his preachers have been telling him, and yet it's straight from the Bible. :-)

And maybe alternating with:

Turn back o man, forswear thy foolish ways.
Old now is Earth and none may count her days.
Yet thou her child, whose head is crowned in flame,
Still wilt not hear thine inner God proclaim:
Turn back o man forswear thy foolish ways.

Earth might be fair and all men glad and wise
Age after age their tragic empires rise
Built while they dream and in that dreaming weep
Would man not wake from out his haunted sleep?
Turn back o man forswear thy foolish ways.

Earth shall be fair and all her people one
Nor till that hour shall God's whole will be done
Now even now once more from earth to sky
Peals forth in joy the old undaunted cry
Earth shall be fair and all her people one.

62. Brainwashed, by Flipper. It's just mindbending.
Also "Funeral's Over, Let's Eat!" by Sockeye.

63. Holy Wars... and the Punishment Due - Megadeth
Brother will kill brother
Spilling blood across the land
Killing for religion
Something I don't understand

Fools like me,who cross the sea
And come to foreign lands
Ask the sheep,for their beliefs
Do you kill on God's command?

A country that's divided
Surely will not stand
My past erased,no more disgrace
No foolish naive stand

The end is near,it's crystal clear
Part of the master plan
Don't look now to Israel
It might be your homelands

Holy wars

(continued)

64. "Sometimes When We Touch"
Just 'cause THAT would be Hell.
There's a record called "Tricks of the Shade" by a hip-hop band called The Goats from '91 - it really smacks that administration around in songs and skits-
"I think you'd better get respect and frankly sort it out-
Because we don't want to have to let Willie Horton out-
My man Rodney King would love a swing-
If Yusef Hawkins was walking he'd say the same thing..."
