F the weatherman! I'm getting hurricane forecasts by watching critters
The weather ninnies have changed the forecast once again. If I hear that phrase "the computer models are all in agreement" one more time I'll strip naked and climb up a tree.

Anyway I heard during Andrew, all the ghost crabs and sand crabs along the beaches, got out of their hidey holes and made a mass exodus inland in advance of the storm, a suicide run as they were squashed on US 1.

I've also heard that critters start acting up when something bad happens, fish swim upside down, birds fly backwards, nocturnal animals start moving around during the light of day. So I am keeping a weather eye out by watching animal signs, like Tarzan. So far the only thing I noticed was yesterday an owl was hooting in the middle of the day

Also I know for a fact that right before a hurricane the fishing is relly good, so I'm going fishing, if I can only find my boat. Just kidding, I'll cast a lure from shore.

1. All I noticed was this huge swarm of dragonflies that have been in the
same spot behind my house for hours. I'll let you know if I see a raccoon wander by. :)

7. They are on the East side of the house...
They are still there loosely swarmed, they do appear to be finding drafts to float on, and are facing into the wind which appears to be going southward.

2. I saw a lone bird this morning chirping away...
I said good luck Bird and he flew away... I wonder what his fate will be in 24 hours...

Oh the Humanity...

6. we use the birds to predict tornados..
totally unofficially of course, but I've heard for many years that birds are the best indicators of whether there's really a tornado or if it's a false alarm. I can verify half of that, cause I've always seen the birds and never been in the pathway of a tornado, but I guess I can't verify the other half without actually going through a tornado a few times. I'm just gonna take their word for it.

Good luck to all the Floridians!

11. Lol. So ignore the "forecast" and
look at the time-lapse satelite photos of this really BIG cloud formation heading your way?

You'll know before the crabs do.

she is in Coral Gables. Her cable is out, so I was trying to tell her what I saw on my TV and the internet here in Delaware. Anyone near by her?

13. My folks are in Cutler Ridge
I spoke with them about an hour ago...very windy but power still on and land-lines up...they aren't sure how much longer it will last but they survived Andrew and prepped for this on Thursday...They're fairly comfortable that it will be a rain/wind event and their grove will be damaged, but the house should be OK as long as it stays a Cat 2...

I've made arrangements to go help clean up...
