2. It was silly to call it...
..."contact from an alien civilization". If it is a signal from intelligent life it's a signal that was sent hundreds if not thousands of years ago.

Not all civilizations exist simultaneously. Only republicans believe that. And they can't because they 'think' only the US is intelligent. :eyes:

Better, radio waves are limited to the speed of sound. That's very slow.

If it is from another civilization, it's either advanced beyond the need for corporeal bodies or it's toast.

7. speed of light.
the signals are about 1000 light years away, and a light year is 9,500,000,000,000 km. So this signal - if it's a REAL signal, which it may just be an anomaly (not that we can't learn a lot from anomalies!!) - is about 9,500,000,000,000,000 klicks away.

There's a BIG discussion about this at slashdot.org under the science category. You might want to look at it.
