At this point in my life, I feel truly blessed.
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 09:47 PM by NightTrain
Two months ago, I moved out of my expensive one-bedroom apartment in a noisy, decaying building in a noisy, decaying town. I'm now in a roommate situation in a quiet, bucolic town located in Connecticut's "quiet corner." My roommate is a former state legislator who can easily hold up his end of an intelligent political conversation. Plus, he has two cats and the friendliest, most affectionate dog I've ever met. This makes the first time in my life that I've lived with pets, and I really like it. Since I moved in with Patrick, not only have my living expenses dropped, so has my blood pressure!

In early August, I started a new job after only five weeks of being unemployed. This job pays considerably more than the job I had lost the month before. Factor in what I said above about my living expenses, and for the first time in my 38 years of life, I'm actually in good financial shape. Not only do I have enough money to keep my bills paid, I now have extra cash to donate to worthy causes--and that's exactly what I'm doing.

When DU held its recent fund drive, I was able to contribute ten times what I had previously kicked in. And tonight, I fired off a check to the DNC. I can't begin to describe how good this makes me feel! Suffice it to say, my current situation has done wonders for my outlook on life.

Now, if I could just get myself laid from time to time....

1. Glad to hear that!
That's some major pressure off of you.
What are you doing now-job wise?

3. It's another delivery-driving job for a pharmacy.
Just can't seem to get out of that line of work! :eyes:

Oh, well. I'm still grateful for the job. In this economy, I fully expected to be unemployed for 6-7 months before I got so much as a nibble. It still amazes me that I not only lucked into such a good job, but that I did so after being out of work only five weeks.

Not hard to see why I think I'm blessed, huh? :)

4. That's good.
And you still have time to do some kick-ass radio shows.
You got to have some time to persue something you really love. If you don't, life can be miserable.
And you now have some animals to share love with.

2. Never forget your blessings...
And remember: Blessing are like the finest, most fragile and most succulent fruit and you can keep them that way. All you have to do is pass them on. They will stay fresh forever. As pleasing as the first day you received them.

7. Woo hoo!!
I, toom, have recently moved out of my stupid noisy salsa-bullshit-fest neighborhood into a quiet area, and man, am I more relaxed.

That's such great news about your new living space, loving the animals, having a smart roommate, and finding a new and better paying job so quickly.

I'm very happy for you!

10. I'm now living in Coventry.
About 10 minutes from the UConn campus. And my job is only 20 minutes away.

11. Nice!
Coventry is really pretty... we are looking at probably moving back to Willimantic or Norwich, for a while (I'm probably getting a job in Old Lyme- WAY too expensive and friends are in the NE, anyway), but would love to eventually afford something a little bit more rural. Congrats to you!
