of hearing about this. I grew up just outside of Dallas. They are my hometown team. My parents lived in Dallas when the team was founded and are original Cowboys fans. I am a loyal fan through think and thin. I watched every goddamn game the year they were 1-15. They are MY team.

I don't give anyone else shit for rooting for their hometown team and I would appreciate it if everyone would shut the hell up about me rooting for mine.

I've had my eagles insulted left and right and that's just how us football trashtalkers are. It's kinda like GD2004, if you don't want to deal with the crap that's being said in there - then don't go there.

I adore you Velma, but I refuse to cater to anyone when it comes to these types of football threads. People know I'm an Eagles fans and I get plenty of trash talk against my team. And believe me, if the Eagles don't make it to the super bowl, it's only going to get worse in the lounge. I don't get upset, I don't get angry, I just realize it's the fun of the game. If this type of talk upsets you then use the ignore button next to it. But plenty of other posters in this thread that are doing the same exact thing whether it's against Dallas, Redskins, Eagles, Patriots, or even GOP's idiotic Houston Oilers :crazy:

I think my point about the quality of your trash talking stands though Lynne. You obviously don't grasp the difference between an insult and honest to god trash talk. Trash talk would be "The Eagles choke more often than George Bush with a bag of preztels". I thought the nice thing about being around other progressives is that we do not judge others even when they are participating in their somewhat childish, but enjoyable hobbies.

I adore you Velma, but next time you see a football thread, especially one I've started, please just skip over it. I never have a problem with a Texan supporting Dallas. I DO have a problem with front-running dogs in other cities supporting Dallas, especially in the Philly area. They can take a dive off the Ben Franklin Bridge with a cinderblock tied to their ankles. Swine.

I got no problem with people who pick a team and then stick with them. I got no problem with people who root for teams because their friends are big fans and get them interested. As an Eagles fan since 1967 I have had my heart broken many many times. I have found that the way to minimize it is to never look ahead to the Super Bowl or read the papers or listen to WIP (although I miss WIP dearly living in Indianapolis). I will worry about kicking Giant ass this Sunday and then we will talk again.

But if we DO meet the Patriots in the Super Bowl we will stomp their pansy asses :-)

I'm sorry for your pain and I know it must have been just horrific from the other side...but down here it was HEAVEN. :) I always say, I could live with the Cowboys being 1-15 as long as that 1 was against the Redskins.

. . .you guys won Superbowls in the 90's. We've only been to the playoffs twice in 15 years. Third largest city in the country and we have a football team owned by a Ivy League hick! Only in america!

And, if you think 7 - 9 was ok, you didn't actually watch the games. The Bears have been the most boring team in the NFL since 1991. It's painful to watch them, even when they win! I at least hope the new coaching group will bring some fun back to watching them, win or lose.
