updates on Ivan
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 11:00 PM by Cheswick
Ivan is now a category 5 with winds of 155miles pr hour and pressure is at 920 mb. Here are a couple of updating graphics.
It is currently hitting Jamaica.
In Cuba the people don't have the supplies they need to board up windows.

2. I hear in Cuba they don't have plywood, so..................
they are protecting their window glass with masking tape. I fear a bloodbath.

3. Is it just me, or did it just turn a little bit south?
All the forcasters still have the same track, but I wonder if that dip will change it. Maybe it will miss Florida entirely.

7. you are right, look at the 2nd graphic
you can see that just as the eye was about to hit Jamaica it jogged south. They are still getting the full force of the hurricane unfortunately.

5. I KNOW
Jamaica just looks like such a tiny bump in comparison to that storm! It's so sad. They have no place to GO!

6. And there was plenty of time to airlift supplies to Cuba
so we could show them WE CARED. There probably is still some time, but not enough.

But since they're the last communist holdouts, we don't care, right bu$h*?:mad::mad::grr::grr::grr:

Human tragedy SHOULD transcend politics; unfortunately this administration doesn't care...:mad::mad::grr::grr::grr:

9. Gee whiz, dumbya generously sent $50,000 after the last hurricane
hit 'em (charley). Couldn't they have invested it in plywood?

12. well if Ivan turns to the right and hits near clearwater
then her mother will have company in the shelter.
In anycase I think the airports on that side of the state will be closed.

Maybe Florida will be spared this time.

16. Hey...
I posted almost the same thing at the same time, neighbor! I sure hope it doesn't come through Alabama...and I'm going to Mississippi tomorrow for a couple of days. But I guess if it hits us it won't be until Wednesday?

17. Whatcha coming to MS for?
Yeah, I am quite nervous that Ivan will visit MS or AL.

NHC has moved the "cone of projection" westward several times. Originally, they had the hurricane's projected path coming through the southwest part of the FL peninsula. :hi:

18. Going to Philadelphia to have some fun...
I'll either be donating lots of money to the local tribes or I'll be buying drinks for everyone!

Hopefully the latter!
